Ola Electric Rolls Out S1 Pro+ Scooters Featuring Made In India Battery Packs
Indian EV brand Ola Electric has started delivering the S1 Pro+ scooter, which features an indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack. With this, Ola has become the first Indian company to sell EV scooters powered by both an India-made battery pack and an India-made battery cell.

The S1 Pro+ Scooter features a new 5.2 kWh battery pack, which Ola refers to as a 4680 Bharat cell battery pack. It is manufactured entirely in India at Ola's future factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. R&D for the battery development was conducted at Ola's Battery Innovation Centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Ola Electric wanted to reduce its dependence on Chinese and other battery cell suppliers. So, they invested in battery cell development and have finally achieved this remarkable feat of producing their own battery cells.
These domestically made battery cells will now be fitted with the S1 Pro+ scooter and will soon be made available across all variants. This scooter has a 13kW electric motor with a range of 320 Km. It can reach a top speed of 130km/h with Hyper Mode and accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.1 seconds.
The scooter also features a smaller 4kWh battery pack that can achieve a maximum range of 242 km. Additionally, the scooter gets industry-first dual-channel ABS, multi-mode traction control, and brake-by-wire technology. It is exclusively available in Passion Red colour.
Design elements also include body-coloured mirrors, a new aluminium grab handle, a full chain cover, a tone seat and full rim decals. It also features a large TFT instrument cluster with MoveOS5 Features, including SOS alerts, Road trip, Bharat Mood, Navigation, smartphone connectivity, Music, Live location sharing, Easy park, and DIY mode.
Ola S1 Pro+ is the most expensive model in the electric lineup. Having India-made battery packs could help the brand reduce its costs and make the EV more affordable and value for money. The price of the S1 Pro+ scooter starts at 1.54 lakh (ex-showroom). It faces rivals such as TVS Iqube, Ather 450, Hero Vida V2 Pro and Chetak 3501.
