KTM Hikes Motorcycle Prices By Up To Rs 12,000 - Details
KTM has recently adjusted the prices of its motorcycles, with changes ranging from an increase of Rs 1,000 to Rs 12,000 on select models. This decision is reflective of the broader trend within the motorcycle industry where manufacturers are compelled to revise their pricing due to the rising costs of production and raw materials. This adjustment by KTM does not accompany any new features on the affected bike models.
The KTM 390 Duke has seen a modest increase in price by Rs 1,000, bringing its new price up to Rs 2.96 lakh from the previous Rs 2.95 lakh. This change comes after a significant price reduction earlier in the year, where KTM reduced the 390 Duke's price by Rs 18,000, lowering it from Rs 3.13 lakh to Rs 2.95 lakh, making the bike more accessible. Despite this increase, the 390 Duke remains appealing, especially after the addition of cruise control as a standard feature in March, a first in its segment.

The KTM 250 Duke and RC 390 have both received a price hike of Rs 5,000. The new pricing positions the KTM 250 Duke at Rs 2.30 lakh, up from Rs 2.25 lakh, and the KTM RC 390 at Rs 3.23 lakh, up from Rs 3.18 lakh. The KTM 250 Duke competes with the likes of the Hero Xtreme 250R, Suzuki Gixxer 250, and Bajaj Pulsar N250. It boasts a liquid-cooled engine capable of producing 31 PS and 25 Nm of torque, along with advanced features such as LED lighting, a 5-inch LCD instrument display, and dual-channel ABS. The KTM RC 390, with its 373 cc engine, is set to see a new version introduced in India soon, promising significant enhancements in styling and hardware.
Further, the KTM RC 200 experienced the most substantial price increase of Rs 12,000, setting its new starting price at Rs 2.33 lakh, up from Rs 2.21 lakh. This model is powered by a 199.5 cc, liquid-cooled engine, delivering 25.8 PS and 19.5 Nm of torque has been updated to OBD-2B emission norms, and competes against motorcycles such as the Yamaha R15 V4 and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
Notably, KTM has made efforts to increase the appeal of its bikes beyond mere performance enhancements. For instance, the introduction of the new Ebony Black Colour option for the 390 Duke in March, alongside its existing Atlantic Blue and Electronic Orange colours, signifies an attempt to cater to varying customer preferences. This strategy of blending performance upgrades with aesthetic options illustrates KTM's holistic approach to maintaining competitiveness in the market.
KTM's price hike reflect the industry-wide challenge of managing rising production costs without compromising on product quality or features. While such increases could put off buyers they reflect the costs of doing business in an increasingly tarrif-happy environment.
