KTM 390 Enduro R To Be Launched Today: India-Specific Changes Expected

Introduced at the India Bike Week 2025, the KTM 390 Enduro R caught the attention of many, in its global-spec form. However, the version destined for the Indian market has undergone several modifications, making it distinct.

Set to be officially launched in India on April 11, 2025, this motorcycle is designed with a strong focus on off-road capabilities. It stands apart from the new-generation 390 Adventure it's based on, being more specialized for off-road use and notably lighter, enhancing its appeal to enthusiasts looking for a bike that's built for the rugged terrain.

KTM Enduro R

The KTM 390 Enduro R is not just lighter but also adopts a more simplistic design by shedding some of its body panels. This reduction in weight to 168 kg not only improves its off-road agility but also ensures it packs a punch in performance.

The bike swaps out the larger color TFT display seen on other models for a more streamlined 4.1-inch TFT console, which still offers Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and music controls. This blend of minimalism and functionality underlines KTM's approach to focusing on what's essential for the off-road rider.

KTM has equipped the 390 Enduro R with the same robust 399 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine found in the 390 Adventure and 390 Duke, known for its reliability and power. This engine generates 45.3 bhp and 39 Nm of torque and is coupled with a six-speed gearbox. However, unlike the 390 Adventure, the 390 Enduro R does not feature cruise control, emphasizing its off-road character over long-distance touring conveniences.

The KTM 390 Enduro R's Localized Changes

Key adjustments have been made for the Indian variant of the KTM 390 Enduro R, particularly in its suspension set-up. Borrowing from the 390 Adventure S for the Indian market, the bike sees a reduction in suspension travel - 205 mm at the front and 200 mm at the rear, contrasting the 230 mm offered by its international counterparts. This modification, along with a lowered ground clearance of 253 mm (down from 272 mm) and a seat height of 860 mm (reduced from 890 mm), is tailored to better suit Indian riding conditions.

Despite these changes, the bike retains its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup, albeit fitted with distinct Mitas dual-purpose tyres for versatile performance on and off the road.

With an anticipated price tag of around ₹3.2 lakh (ex-showroom), the KTM 390 Enduro R is poised to carve a unique niche for itself in the Indian market. Positioned between the KTM 390 Adventure X and S models, it aims to cater to those seeking unparalleled fun on off-road trails. This model stands as a singular option in its segment, with the absence of direct rivals, offering a distinctive choice for enthusiasts.

DriveSpark Thinks

The KTM 390 Enduro R's introduction to the Indian market is a testament to KTM's commitment to offering motorcycles that are not just high-performing but also tailor-made to meet the specific needs of different markets. With its off-road focus, reduced weight, and India-specific modifications, the 390 Enduro R is ready to offer an unmatched off-road experience to Indian riders. As we near its official launch, the anticipation among motorcycle enthusiasts is palpable, promising a new chapter in off-road motorcycling in India.
