KTM e Duke Spotted For The Very First Time - The Duke Of The Future?

A prototype of KTM's e Duke, the firm's first-ever electric motorcycle, has been seen for the very first time in the wild. The KTM e Duke was spotted at the firm's headquarters by one of the stunt riders associated with the Austrian firm, Rok Bagoros.

Bagoros was showing off KTM's Motohall display area to his followers on Instagram at the Austrian firm's HQ in Mattighofen. A prototype of the KTM e Dsuke was first announced in 2022 at the annual investor presentation for its then-parent firm, Pierer Mobility.

KTM e Duke Spotted - Aggressive Design

Despite the video not being as long as most fans of the Orange firm would like it to be (despite the clearly blasphemous content), the design of the KTM e Duke is very clearly seen in the Instagram video.

And it is very clear that the e Duke is a KTM. It looks an even more aggressive, slightly more faired version of the 390 Duke from the future. It's got KTM's new maniacal headlight design with oversized DRLs flanking a LED headlight.

The fuel tank features exaggerated extensions and there is a 3D-printed split seat setup that heads skywards almost as soon as it starts. Also seen is a very minimal slimline display and the rear brake can be found on the handlebar instead of where you usually find it on a motorcycle.

KTM e Duke Spotted - Expected Powertrain

That presentation in 2022 outlined the details of the e Duke's powertrain. On paper, it consisted of a 10kW (peak power) mid-mounted motor connected to a modest 5.5kW battery that was speculated to be good for a range of 100km on a single charge, that is if you behaved in the saddle.

The e Duke seemingly borrows quite a few bits from the 390 Duke manufactured and sold here in India. These bits include the steel trellis frame, aluminium swingarm, and offset rear monoshock setup, along with the wheels and brakes.

The USD front fork is a fully adjustable unit, and the e Duke also sports a colour TFT display. The electric motor sits just where the conventional Duke's engine would be and the hollow section that looks like it will likely help keep the battery pack cool.

KTM e Duke Spotted - To Be Made In India?

KTM has been undergoing a period of financial instability over the past few months and the factory in Mattighofen, Austria was kept running thanks to some big investment by Bajaj. When Bajaj stepped in once again to help KTM make its payments to its creditors, the Indian firm had stated that it was looking to gain a controlling stake in the Austrian marque. So if KTM does decide to put the e Duke into production, there is a big chance that it could end up being built at Bajaj's Chakan facilities.
