KTM 390 & Triumph 400 Lineup Prices Remain Unchanged As Bajaj Absorbs GST Hike
The Indian government recently raised the Goods and Services Tax on motorcycles above 350cc to 40 percent. This change created concerns among riders and manufacturers alike, as the move was expected to push up ex-showroom prices for popular models across the market.
Bajaj Auto, however, has announced that it will not be increasing prices for the made in India KTM 390 and Triumph 400 lineups of motorcycles. The company confirmed that it will absorb the impact of the revised GST structure instead of passing it on to customers. This step keeps prices steady despite the higher tax rate.

The decision covers motorcycles manufactured at Bajaj's Chakan plant under its partnerships with KTM and Triumph. Models such as the Triumph Speed 400, Scrambler 400, Thruxton 400, and Speed T4, along with KTM's 390 Duke, RC 390, and the 390 Adventure range, all remain unaffected by the tax increase.
For Triumph, the locally built 400cc models remain priced as before. This includes the entry-point Speed T4 as well as the Scrambler and Thruxton variants. The company had only recently expanded the 400cc portfolio in India, and prices are being maintained across the line-up.

Triumph 400cc Models - Ex-Showroom Price (Delhi):
| Model | Price (Rs) |
|---|---|
| Speed T4 | 1,99,000 - 2,06,738 |
| Scrambler 400 X | 2,50,551 |
| Thruxton 400 | 2,67,731 |
| Scrambler 400 XC | 2,74,137 |
| Scrambler 400 XC (Top Var.) | 2,94,671 |
Manik Nangia, President Probiking, Bajaj Auto Ltd said, "The Triumph 400 cc platform has set new benchmarks in performance, design, and value. Even with the GST increase, we wanted to ensure that riding enthusiasts are not discouraged by higher costs. By holding prices steady, Triumph and Bajaj Auto are taking this step in the interest of customers, reaffirming our commitment to growing the Triumph brand in India."
KTM's 390 range is also included in this pricing policy. This means models such as the 390 Duke, the faired RC 390, and the two Adventure variants remain at their existing tags in the Delhi market. Prices are unaffected by the GST revision.
KTM 390 Models - Ex-Showroom Price
| Model | Price (Rs) |
|---|---|
| KTM 390 Duke | 2,97,443 |
| RC 390 | 3,22,719 |
| 390 Enduro R | 3,39,227 |
| 390 Enduro R (Global-spec) | 3,53,825 |
| KTM 390 Adventure X | 3,03,768 |
| KTM 390 Adventure | 3,67,700 |
Speaking about the KTM 390 lineup, Nangia said, "KTM has always stood for accessible, performance-driven motorcycling. We love the fact that we have more than half a million customers, who trust us, and spread the enthusiasm for performance motorcycling, they are our true advocates and flag bearers. By keeping ex-showroom prices unchanged on our >390cc range and passing on the benefits of GST reduction on the 160 Duke, 200 Duke, 250 Duke etc, we reaffirm our commitment to motorcycling."
Bajaj's announcement means that customers eyeing either the Triumph or KTM 400cc motorcycles will not see any immediate difference in showrooms, even with the higher GST slab in place. Other manufacturers are expected to increase their prices in line with the new tax rate.
