Kawasaki Z1100 Revealed With 134hp & Riding Aids

Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Kawasaki has taken the wraps off the new Z1100, reviving its flagship naked streetfighter with updated hardware and electronics. The new Kawasaki Z1100 continues with the sharp Sugomi styling of the Z family while introducing a heavily revised engine and advanced rider aids.

Powering the Kawasaki Z1100 is a new 1,099cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four cylinder engine. The engine develops 134 horsepower at 9,000rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 7,600rpm and is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

The engine gains a new crankshaft and larger bore and stroke. Ride-by-wire throttle replaces mechanical actuation, feeding into a reworked cylinder head. Camshafts, valve springs, and pistons have all been upgraded, while fuelling is controlled through revised electronic mapping. Exhaust gases exit via a new 4-2-1 system instead of the twin-pipe setup used on the earlier Z1000.

The Kawasaki Z1100 is built around an aluminium frame derived from the Ninja 1100SX. Suspension duties are managed by fully adjustable Showa components on the standard variant. The SE model benefits from a Showa fork combined with an Öhlins S46 rear monoshock with remote preload adjustability.

Braking is handled by twin 310mm discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. Tokico radial callipers are standard, while the SE version employs Brembo M4.32 callipers with steel braided lines for improved feel and performance during hard braking situations. The Z1100 rides on 17-inch wheels shod with 120/70-ZR17 (front) and 190/50-ZR17 (rear).Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tyres.

The Z1100 sports a 5-inch TFT display, identical to the unit fitted on the latest Z900. The screen offers Bluetooth connectivity, allowing smartphone pairing through Kawasaki's Rideology app. Riders can access navigation prompts, call alerts, and music information on the dash.

Electronic aids on the Z1100 include two selectable power modes, three traction control levels with an off option, cruise control, bidirectional quickshifter, and dual-channel ABS. A five-axis IMU monitors rider inputs and bike behaviour, ensuring the systems operate precisely across varied conditions.

Styling remains familiar, with the new bike retaining the aggressive stance of the outgoing Z1000. The tank, side panels, and headlamp cowl reflect the Sugomi design theme. Kawasaki is offering the Z1100 in a Moody Ebony and Metallic Carbon Gray paint scheme with contrasting highlights across the bodywork and wheels.
