Kawasaki Lowers Price Of KLX230 To Rs 1.99 Lakh! Targets Off-Road Enthusiasts In India
Kawasaki has significantly reduced the prices for the KLX230 in India, marking a significant shift for the brand's off-road motorcycles. Initially launched at Rs 3.3 lakh, the KLX230 struggled to capture mainstream attention due to its high price. However, as mentioned, Kawasaki has now reduced the price by Rs 1.3 lakh, making it more appealing to potential buyers.
The new pricing strategy positions the Kawasaki KLX230 at Rs 1.99 lakh (Ex-showroom), aligning it closer to competitors like Hero MotoCorp's offerings. This move is part of Kawasaki's effort to make the KLX230 more accessible and attractive to off-road enthusiasts who previously found it out of reach.

Focus on Off-Road Performance
With its reduced price, the KLX230 becomes a strong contender for those seeking a dedicated off-roader. It boasts superior suspension travel and ground clearance compared to Hero MotoCorp's Xpulse 210, while also being 30 kg lighter. The Xpulse 210 is priced between Rs 1.76 lakh and Rs 1.86 lakh (Ex-showroom).
The KLX230 is powered by a 233cc single-cylinder SOHC engine, delivering 17.85 bhp and 18.3 Nm of torque through a 6-speed gearbox. This engine configuration remains unchanged from previous models, ensuring reliable performance for off-road adventures.
Introducing the KLX230R S
Kawasaki has also launched the KLX230R S, a trail-only variant priced at Rs 1.94 lakh (Ex-showroom). Designed exclusively for off-road use, this model lacks road-legal features like mirrors and indicators but includes knobby tyres for enhanced grip on rough terrains.
The introduction of these models reflects Kawasaki's strategy similar to their approach with the W175, aiming to regain market interest by adjusting prices and offering better value propositions for consumers interested in hardcore off-roading experiences.
While Hero MotoCorp may introduce a Pro variant with advanced features like adjustable suspension and higher ground clearance, it faces challenges in matching the lightweight advantage of Kawasaki's offerings.
DriveSpark Thinks
Kawasaki's decision to lower prices without temporary discounts or festive offers indicates a long-term commitment to capturing a larger share of India's off-road motorcycle market by providing competitive options that cater specifically to enthusiasts' needs.
