India's Best-Selling Scooter Sales Decline Despite Sporting A Smart Key, TFT Screen, & Bluetooth
India's gearless scooter segment once used to be lacklustre and boring, with barely any respectable sales figures compared to geared motorcycles. Fast Forward a few years, the launch of the Honda Activa catapulted the sales of gearless scooters in India.
Now, the Honda Activa has become so popular that it is difficult to go quarter of hour without seeing an Activa on the Indian streets.
One of the reasons for the success of Honda Activa in India has been its reliability, convenience, and practicality it offered. Like the Toyota Qualis, the Honda Activa quickly gained traction in the Indian market with positive word-of-mouth opinion.
That said, Honda Activa sales have declined by more than 10%. In fact, Year-on-Year sales of Honda Activa in the month of May 2025 fell by 11.85%. Though the sales figure of 1,90,713 units is still miles ahead of its nearest competitor, a difference of more than 25,000 units in the Year-on-Year sales figures hints at changing consumer demands.
However, if you think that the lack of features is hurting sales of the Honda Activa, you are wrong - The top-spec version of the Activa now comes with features that are not present in many scooters in its segment.
Some of the highlighting features of this top-spec Honda Activa variant include a TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity, Honda Road Sync app integration, and a smart key with functions such as Smart Find, Smart Safe, Smart Unlock, and Smart Start.
That said, the 110cc version of the Honda Activa is available in 3 variants - Standard, DLX, and Smart. Prices for these variants start at Rs 81,045 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and go all the way up to Rs 95,567 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec 'Smart' variant.

The dip in popularity of Honda Activa is a real concern for the Japanese two-wheeler giant in India. We expect Honda to quickly take note of the trend and make necessary changes to ensure the model stays popular in India.
