Indian Scooter Market Sales Decline In April 2025: Key Insights

The Indian scooter market remains dominated by internal combustion engine (ICE) models, despite a surge in electric scooters. In April 2025, the top 10 scooters sold 5,12,182 units, marking a 6.31% decrease from April 2024's 5,46,671 units. This decline represents a loss of 34,489 units year-on-year (YoY).

Honda Activa

Honda Activa led the sales chart with 1,94,787 units in April 2025. Despite its long-standing popularity, it experienced a significant YoY decline of 25.17%, losing 65,513 units compared to last year's sales of 2,60,300 units.

TVS Jupiter

TVS Jupiter secured the second position with sales of 1,02,588 units. This accounted for 20.03% of total sales among the top ten scooters. Compared to April 2024's sales of 77,086 units, Jupiter saw a YoY growth of 33.08%, adding an extra volume of 25,502 units.

Suzuki Access

Suzuki Access ranked third with sales of 65,107 units in April. It contributed to 12.71% of the total sales and recorded a modest YoY growth of 5.08%. The previous year's sales were at 61,960 units, resulting in an increase of 3,147 units.

TVS iQube

TVS iQube emerged as India's best-selling electric scooter with sales reaching 27,604 units last month. It achieved an impressive YoY growth rate of 65.16%, gaining an additional volume of 10,891 units compared to the previous year.

Ola S1

In contrast to TVS iQube's success, Ola S1 faced the highest YoY decline among the top ten scooters at a rate of 42.31%. Its sales fell to just 19,709 units in April.

Bajaj Chetak

Bajaj Chetak showed remarkable performance with a YoY growth rate of 72.79%, selling a total of 19,216 units last month.

Suzuki Burgman

Suzuki's Burgman Street 125 is India's leading maxi-scooter and Suzuki's second entry on this list. It sold 23,050 units in April and experienced a robust YoY growth rate of 30.37%, adding an extra volume of 5,370 units over last year.

Honda Dio

Honda Dio sold fewer scooters this year with only 20,555 units sold in April. This represented an YoY decline of about11.33%, resulting in a volume loss of approximately2,627 units.

TVS Ntorq

TVS Ntorq registered a decline as well; it sold only25,383units compared to last year's30,411units—a drop by16.53%YoYand losing around5k+unitsin volume terms.

Yamaha Ray ZR125

Finally, the Yamaha RayZR125 managed slight improvement with 14,183 units sold this April 2025 compared to 14,055 units lastyear, resulting in 0.91percent growth.
