Electric Two-Wheeler Sales Decline YoY In July 2025

The Indian electric two-wheeler market experienced a dip in July 2025, with retail sales reaching 1,02,973 units. This represents a 4.35% decline from July 2024 and a 2.26% decrease from June 2025, according to FADA. Despite the overall drop, individual brands showed varied performances, with some achieving growth while others faced declines.

TVS iQube maintained its leading position by selling 22,256 units in July 2025. This figure marks a 13.23% increase compared to the same month last year when it sold 19,655 units. Bajaj Chetak followed closely with sales of 19,683 units, reflecting a 10.80% rise over its performance in July 2024.

Ather Energy emerged as one of the fastest-growing brands in July 2025. It registered sales of 16,251 units, marking a significant increase of 59.04% from the previous year's figure of 10,218 units. Hero Vida also demonstrated impressive growth by more than doubling its sales to reach 10,501 units, up by an astounding 107.20% year-on-year.

Ola S1 experienced a substantial decline in demand or possibly faced supply issues. Its sales plummeted by 57.29%, dropping to 17,852 units from the previous year's figure of 41,802 units. This sharp decrease indicates challenges for the brand that once led the sales charts.

The month-on-month analysis reveals different trends for top brands like TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ola S1. All three saw double-digit declines in July compared to June due to ongoing shortages of rare earth magnets. TVS iQube's sales fell by 12.03%, Bajaj Chetak's by 14.54%, and Ola S1's by 11.58%.

Conversely, Ather Energy bucked this trend with an increase of 11.88% month-on-month as its sales rose from June's figure of 14,526 units. Hero Vida also continued its upward trajectory with a strong leap of 36.95%, climbing from June's total of 7,668 units.

Ampere recorded steady growth at a rate of 32.92%, reaching sales of 4,199 units in July. PURE EV posted an impressive surge of 332.82%, selling a total of 1,688 units during the same period. River EV showed remarkable expansion as well with a growth rate of 583.78%, achieving sales figures of 1,518 units.

Kinetic Green also experienced solid growth with an increase of 77.79%, reaching sales figures of 1,225 units in July compared to last year’s numbers. However, Bgauss saw a decline in its performance with an annual drop of 11.04%, selling only 1,595 units.

Market Dynamics: Established vs Emerging Brands

The overall sales data for July suggests that the electric two-wheeler market is undergoing changes as established leaders like TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak face short-term slowdowns while other players such as Hero Vida and River EV show strong momentum in capturing market share.
