Top Things To Know About The New Honda Rebel 500 Motorcycle
Honda has introduced the CMX500 Rebel in India, priced at Rs 5.12 lakh. The CMX500 Rebel is Honda's interpretation of a 500cc bobber. Despite being brought in as a completely built unit (CBU), it still manages to be Rs 64,000 cheaper than its direct rival, the Kawasaki Eliminator 500.
Design
The Rebel's design includes a tubular steel frame with an accessible seat height of just 690mm. It has an 11.2-litre fuel tank which is relatively small but complements its sub-195kg kerb weight, aligning it more closely with Royal Enfield's lighter 350cc bikes rather than their heavier 650cc counterparts.

Engine & Performance
Under the fuel tank, the Rebel 500 houses a 471cc inline-2 engine that is liquid-cooled. This engine delivers 46hp and 43.3Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. This makes the Rebel 500's powertrain on par with its main rivals in the Indian market.
Competition
The Honda Rebel 500 enters the market as a competitor to the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, Super Meteor 650, and Kawasaki Eliminator 500. Notably, it is priced Rs 78,000 less than the NX500. It is worth mentioning that the Rebel is imported via the CBU route, which contributes to its higher price. Also, the price difference between the NX500 and Rebel is smaller in India compared to international markets.
Wheels & Features
The Rebel 500 features unique wheel sizes with both ends measuring 16 inches. The front tyre is a robust 130-section while the rear sports a wider 150-section tyre. Standard features include dual-channel ABS and a negative LCD display for enhanced visibility.
DriveSpark Thinks
Sales for the Honda Rebel will occur through select BigWing Top Line dealers located in Gurugram, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Customers can expect deliveries to begin in June 2025. That being said, a more competitive pricing from Honda could have a very positive impact on the sales of the Rebel 500 motorcycle in India.
