Honda Motorcycle Sales Decline By 7.4% In May 2025: Activa Sales Decline Even More!

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India reported a decrease in domestic sales for May 2025. The total sales reached 4,17,250 units, reflecting a 7.4% decline from the 4,50,589 units sold in May 2024. Despite this overall drop, some models showed positive growth.

Performance of Popular Models

The Honda Activa remained the top-selling model with 1,90,713 units sold. However, this was an 11.85% decrease from the previous year's figure of 2,16,352 units. Meanwhile, the Shine 125 and SP125 models combined saw a significant increase in sales.

The Shine 125 and SP125 recorded sales of 1,48,288 units in May 2025. This marked a rise of 16.85% compared to the previous year's sales of 1,26,907 units. The Unicorn also performed well with a sale of 28,616 units.

Decline in Other Models

The Honda Dio experienced a decline in sales by 9.71%, selling 26,220 units compared to last year's 29,041 units. The Shine 100 faced a sharper drop of 54.92%, with only 9,983 units sold against last year's figure of 22,147.

Livo's sales fell by half to just 3,829 units from the previous year's count of 7,796. The SP160 also saw a significant decrease in sales by registering only 3,294 units compared to last year's figure of 9,939.

Premium Segment Insights

In the premium segment, CB350 sales rose sharply by 83.97%, reaching 2,410 units compared to last year's figure of 1,310. However, H'ness 350 saw a decline in sales by selling only 1,281 units against last year's count of 1,968.

The Hornet 2.0 also experienced a downturn with only 1,273 units sold compared to last year's figure of 2,505—a decline of nearly half at 49.18%. Honda's new QC1 model registered its first sale with no prior comparison available.

New and Lesser-Known Models

The CB200X showed moderate growth with an increase of about 14.45%, selling a total of 586 units compared to last year’s figure of just over 512. CBR650 added 31 new buyers this May while CB300 dropped significantly.

The CB300 witnessed a sharp fall in demand with only 25 units sold against 296 last year—a massive drop of over 90%! Meanwhile XL750 reported nineteen unit sales down from forty-one previously recorded figures.

Overall, Honda's two wheeler business in India remains strong, and we expect the minor deficet to be overcome very soon. That being said, the upcoming festive season is expected to significantly boost Honda's sales in India.
