Honda CB650R E-Clutch Set To Revolutionise Riding In India
Honda is gearing up to introduce the innovative E-Clutch variant of its CB650R motorcycle in India, following a recent teaser on its social media platform. This move will mark the debut of the E-Clutch technology in the Indian market, featured in the inline-four Honda 650s lineup.
The E-Clutch system allows riders to shift gears, stop, and start without the need to use the clutch lever, although manual control is still an option. The CB650R E-Clutch, which will be slightly heavier and more expensive than its standard counterpart, retains the same mechanical and visual design except for the clutch mechanism.

The CB650R E-Clutch variant introduces a minor weight increase, tipping the scales at 205.8kg, which is only 2.8kg heavier than the standard model. Despite this slight increase in weight, the E-Clutch version maintains the same aesthetic appeal with the exception of a larger clutch casing to fit the necessary actuators and components. This innovative version is designed to offer the same thrilling riding experience without the need to engage the clutch manually.
Both the standard and E-Clutch versions of the CB650R boast a liquid-cooled, 649cc inline four-cylinder engine, delivering 95hp at 12,000rpm and 63Nm of torque at 9,500rpm. The shared 6-speed gearbox underscores their mechanical similarities, with the primary distinction being the operational method of the clutch. Honda has not disclosed the exact price for the E-Clutch variant, but it is anticipated to be higher than the standard CB650R, which is currently priced at Rs 9.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In international markets, the E-Clutch model is on average Rs 20,000 more expensive than the regular version.
