Honda Issues Recall For CB300R Motorcycles From 2018 To 2020: Here's Why

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has initiated a voluntary recall for the CB300R motorcycles, specifically those manufactured from 2018 to 2020. This action is part of a broader global recall and aims to address a malfunction in the motorcycle’s headlamp unit. The concern originates from the internal PCB structure, where the core wires may experience a fatigue break at the terminal roots.

This defect could lead to the headlight flickering or, in some cases, completely turning off. Although Honda has not reported any incidents of customer complaints or injuries linked to this issue, the recall underscores the company’s commitment to rider safety.

Affected CB300R owners will be contacted by Honda as part of this proactive measure. The company has assured that the faulty headlamp unit will be replaced at no cost to the motorcycle owners, regardless of the bike's warranty status.

This service will be provided exclusively at BigWing dealerships across India. For those who own the CB300R and wish to determine if their motorcycle is impacted by the recall, Honda has provided an option on the BigWing website where the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) can be submitted for verification.

The Honda CB300R stands out in the 300-500 cc motorcycle category with its neo-retro design. It is powered by a 286.01 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which delivers 30.7 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 27.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a six-speed gearbox, contributing to the bike's dynamic performance. The CB300R is known for its light kerb weight of 146 kg, enhancing its agility and ease of handling.

It features USD front forks and a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the rear for its suspension system, while braking is managed by disc brakes at both ends, supplemented with dual-channel ABS. Honda offers the CB300R in two colors, Grey and Red, and it is priced at ₹2.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

This recall emphasizes Honda's dedication to maintaining high safety standards and ensuring the reliability of its vehicles. By undertaking such measures proactively, the company aims to prevent any potential hazards that could arise from the identified defect, thereby safeguarding its customers. The replacement of the faulty headlamp units reaffirms Honda's commitment to customer service and product quality.
