Honda Africa Twin Recalled In India Over Wiring Harness Issue

Japanese two-wheeler giant Honda has announced a recall of its CRF1100L Africa Twin adventure motorcycles sold between 2019 and 2025 in India. Honda has confirmed that the campaign is part of a larger global initiative aimed at addressing potential safety issues linked to electrical wiring.

The issue with the Honda Africa Twin relates to the wiring harness connected to the left handlebar switch. Due to repeated bending and flexing while riding, the wiring joint may experience oxidation over time. This process can lead to reduced conductivity, which in turn affects the functioning of key electrical components.

Early symptoms of this defect include failure of the horn and difficulty in switching between low and high beams on the motorcycle's headlight system. These problems develop progressively, depending on the riding conditions and usage patterns, and may not show up immediately on all affected units.

To ensure rider safety, Honda has confirmed that the affected wiring harness will be replaced free of cost. The service will be carried out at the company's BigWing Topline dealerships across India, regardless of whether the motorcycle is currently covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

The recall operation will begin in the fourth week of January 2026. Honda will start contacting customers directly through emails, text messages, and phone calls to schedule the inspection and replacement. Owners are urged to respond promptly to avoid any potential riding inconvenience.

Honda has also introduced a digital facility for customers to check if their motorcycle is part of the recall. By entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of their Africa Twin on the official Honda India website, owners can verify eligibility for free replacement and further service support.

The CRF1100L Africa Twin is one of Honda's flagship adventure motorcycles in India. It was introduced to cater to riders seeking a combination of off-road ability and long-distance touring comfort. With this recall, Honda is reinforcing its commitment to rider safety and product reliability in the premium motorcycle segment.

For customers who regularly undertake long-distance rides, ensuring proper functioning of lighting and horn systems is critical for both comfort and safety. Honda's proactive step to replace the faulty wiring harness highlights the brand's intent to minimize risks and maintain confidence among Africa Twin owners in India.
