Honda Activa Remains Top-Selling Scooter In Indian Market Despite Minor Sales Decline

Honda Activa continues to dominate the Indian scooter market, maintaining its position as the top-selling scooter in February 2025. Despite a 13.05% drop in sales from February 2024, with 1,74,009 units sold compared to 2,00,134 the previous year, it still leads the list of best-selling scooters. TVS Jupiter follows in second place with 1,03,576 units sold.

The Honda Activa is available in two versions: the Activa 110 and Activa 125. Both models are popular among Indian consumers. The Activa 110 features a 109.51 cc engine that generates 5.88 kW of power at 8,000 rpm and 9.05 NM of torque at 5,500 rpm. It offers a ground clearance of 162 mm and a fuel tank capacity of 5.3 litres.

The Activa 110 comes in three variants: STD OBD2B priced at Rs. 85,222, DLX OBD2B at Rs. 94,741, and SMART OBD2B at Rs. 97,742 (Chennai ex-showroom prices). It is available in six colours: Rebel Red Metallic, Pearl Siren Blue, Pearl Precious White, Pearl Ignis Black, Decent Blue Metallic, and Matt Axis Grey Metallic.

The Activa 125 is equipped with a larger 123.92 cc engine that produces 6.20 kW of power at 6,500 rpm and 10.5 NM of torque at 5,000 rpm. Like the Activa 110, it also has a ground clearance of 162 mm and a fuel tank capacity of 5.3 litres.

While the Activa 125 shares most colour options with the Activa 110, it replaces Decent Blue Metallic with Pearl Deep Ground Grey. The Activa 125 is available in two variants: the DISC variant priced at Rs. 1,00,223 and the SMART variant at Rs. 1,04,229 (Chennai ex-showroom prices).

Since its launch in India in 2001, the Honda Activa has built a reputation for reliability and practicality. Its affordability and high resale value make it a preferred choice for many buyers. The scooter's low maintenance cost further enhances its appeal.

Honda Activa's Market Position

The Honda Activa competes with other scooters like TVS Jupiter, Hero Maestro Edge 110, Hero Pleasure Plus, TVS Zest 110, and Honda Dio in India. It also serves as an alternative to models such as Hero Destini 125, Suzuki Access 125, and Yamaha Fascino 125.

The enduring popularity of the Honda Activa can be attributed to its balance of mileage and price point. These factors have helped it remain a favourite among Indian consumers for nearly a quarter-century since its debut.
