Hero Maverick 440 Spotted With USD Fork Upgrade On TVC Shoot - Launch Imminent?

The Hero Maverick 440 has been spotted, likely during a TVC shoot, revealing a new front suspension setup with an upside-down fork. Hero MotoCorp appears readying the mid-capacity roadster for a relaunch after quietly discontinuing the model earlier this year.

The most noticeable change on the new Hero Maverick 440 is the golden USD fork replacing the telescopic setup of the earlier version. The component matches the ones seen on the Maverick 440 seen during the brand's EICMA 2024 showcase.

The Maverick 440 taking part in the TVC also carries a matte grey finish instead of the earlier gloss tone. Its engine casing now wears a brushed bronze or copper colour, replacing black on the previous model.

The Maverick 440's stance and body panels remain largely identical. It remains unclear whether the unit seen at the TVC shoot features the TFT instrument cluster displayed at EICMA 2024.

Hero recently delisted the Maverick 440 from its official website and halted bookings due to weak initial demand. The Maverick 440 had been introduced as a more affordable derivative of the Harley-Hero X440, targeting riders seeking a relaxed 400cc roadster experience without a premium price tag.

The original version omitted several higher-end components to reduce costs, including the TFT display and USD fork. These deletions were widely criticised for diminishing the bike's visual impact and making it resemble an oversized commuter instead of a muscular mid-displacement street motorcycle.

Mechanically, the Maverick 440 uses the same 440cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine as the X440 delivering 27 PS and 36 Nm and paired with a six-speed gearbox. No evidence currently suggests internal engine updates, indicating that Hero is focusing on styling and component upgrades for this iteration.

Interestingly, one of the test units bears the "Hunk 440" name on its fuel tank. Hero uses the Hunk brand in select export markets, fuelling speculation that the company might badge the international version differently while retaining the Maverick name for domestic sales.

The TVC shoot points to an imminent launch announcement. We expect a modest price hike of around ₹8,000 - ₹10,000 for the Maverick 440 to offset the cost of the new fork and potential feature additions.
