EICMA 2025: Honda CB1000GT Revealed - Litre-Class Sports-Tourer

Japanese two-wheeler giant Honda has revealed the all new CB1000GT at EICMA 2025 in Milan. The new Honda CB1000GT builds upon the mechanical foundation of the CB1000 Hornet, introducing a fully faired design and a comprehensive list of rider-focused enhancements.

Honda describes the new CB1000GT as a touring machine engineered for effortless high-speed performance and long-range comfort. It combines aerodynamic bodywork, a new fairing structure, and a host of rider-assist technologies.

Powering the CB1000GT is the same 999cc inline-four engine used in the CB1000 Hornet. The engine develops 147bhp and 104Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox and quickshifter. The CB1000GT's engine uses revised mapping compared to the Hornet for smoother throttle response suited to long-distance riding.

The Honda CB1000GT employs a steel twin-spar frame supported by Showa suspension components. At the front is a 43mm SFF-BP upside-down fork, while the rear uses a monoshock with adjustable preload and damping. Braking is handled by twin 310mm discs with radial-mount callipers at the front and a 240mm rear disc aided by dual-channel ABS.

The Honda CB1000GT rides on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with 120/70 front and 190/55 rear tyres. The fuel tank capacity stands at 19 litres, providing an extended touring range, while the kerb weight is 229kg.

The new CB1000GT features a tall windscreen, large side fairings, and integrated pannier mounts. Honda claims the aerodynamic package reduces wind buffeting and improves highway stability. The seat height is set at 820mm, and the sporty tourer allows for a neutral, upright riding posture.

The CB1000GT introduces radar-based adaptive cruise control and collision-mitigation warning functions. These systems work in tandem with other electronic aids like traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, and selectable ride modes.

The electronics suite is centred around a new 7-inch full-colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity via Honda RoadSync. Navigation, music, and call functions are directly integrated into the display.

Honda has also equipped the CB1000GT with LED lighting throughout, a keyless ignition system, USB-C charging ports, and self-cancelling indicators. The touring-oriented litre-class Honda motorcycle also features heated grips and optional hard luggage designed to match the body colour of the bike.

At launch, Honda confirmed that the CB1000GT will be available in three colour options - Metallic Black, Pearl Red, and Matte Grey. Deliveries for European markets are set to begin by mid-2026, with other regions, including India, expected to follow soon after.

The CB1000GT joins Honda's expanding 1000cc platform lineup alongside the CB1000 Hornet and CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. Positioned as a long-distance alternative in the litre-class segment, the Honda CB1000GT will rival models such as the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX, BMW S1000XR, and Suzuki GSX-S1000GT.
