EICMA 2025: Ducati Unveils Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP
Ducati has unveiled its new Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP, which will use its newly developed V2 engine. This engine will be used in their other models as well, starting with the Monster V2 and the Panigale V2. The Hypermotard concept was first introduced at EICMA 2005.
The new Ducati Hypermotard V2 design was derived from the original concept, which was named as the "Best in Show' during the 2005 event. It has the same iconic front beak, flat seat, muscular tank shrouds, upswept tail section, and dual exhaust. The LED headlamp is now sharper with slim LED DRLs and floating tail lights above the exhaust system.

Ducati has developed a new 890cc V-twin engine, which they call the lightest twin engine (54kg) ever produced by Ducati. This new power unit is 6kg lesser than the previous Testastretta unit. Though the displacement has dropped, its power levels are impressive with 120hp at 10,750 rpm and 94 Nm torque at 8,250 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with an updated bi-directional quick shifter.
It uses a new aluminium monocoque chassis instead of the older steel frame. The trellis subframe has been retained for the 2026 model. Additionally, they went with a double-sided swingarm for improved cornering stability. This bike now weighs 13 kgs less than the previous model.
Ducati has used fully adjustable 46mm Kayaba forks at the front and a Kayaba shock with preload and rebound adjustment at the rear. The SP variant is equipped with fully adjustable Ohlins suspension for a smoother ride and performance. Both versions have Sachs steering damper as a standard feature.

The electronics include a new 5-inch TFT display with four different riding modes and three info modes (Road, Roadpro, and Track). It also gets 4-level adjustable cornering ABS, Ducati traction control, wheelie control, quick shift 2.0, and engine brake control.
For safety, both versions use a Brembo braking system paired with 320mm dual discs at the front and a 245mm disc at the rear. The SP version gets a high-performance M50 calliper with a dedicated brake master cylinder for better braking performance. Ducati has just announced these bikes for 2026, and if it launches in India, they will command a premium price.
