Ducati DesertX Discovery Launched At Rs 21.78 Lakh - The Desert Tourer
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has launched the DesertX Discovery in India. The Ducati DesertX Discovery is priced at Rs 21,78,200 (ex-showroom). The Discovery is the more touring-focused version of the Ducati DesertX and sits between the "base" DesertX bike and the DesertX Rally.
The Ducati DesertX Discovery has many features over the regular DesertX to cater to its touring nature. These features include heated grips, a taller touring windscreen, a centre stand and aluminium panniers.
The DesertX Discovery also sports reinforced hand guards, an engine guard with water pump protection, a radiator grill, and a reinforced sump guard. The Discovery also sports a unique Thrilling Black/Ducati Red livery to help differentiate it from the other Ducati DesertX variants and its instrument display also supports turn-by-turn navigation, a 5-year subscription for which is included in the price of the motorcycle.
The Ducati DesertX Discovery is powered by Ducati's 937cc, L-Twin engine that pushes out 108bhp at 9,250rpm and 92Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox aided by a slipper clutch and a bidirectional quickshifter.
The DesertX Discovery from Ducati features a tubular steel trellis frame suspended off a 46mm USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, both of which are fully adjustable units from KYB.
Braking duties are carried out by twin 320mm discs at the front clamped down by radially mounted Brembo 4-piston callipers and a 265mm disc at the rear clamped down by twin-piston floating Brembo callipers. The brakes are aided by cornering ABS from Bosch.
The Ducati DesertX Discovery features a staggered wheel setup with a 21-inch wheel at the front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear. These cross-spoked rims are shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tubeless tyres - 90/90 (front) and 150/70 (rear).
