BMW F 450 GS Set To Launch With Semiautomatic Gearbox
The BMW F 450 GS is set to redefine adventure biking in 2025, with its launch quickly approaching. Set to be manufactured in India by TVS, the F 450 GS is poised to become a significant entry point into BMW's esteemed GS series, particularly filling the void left by the G 310 GS.
According to a report by Motorcyclenews.com, the BMW F 450 GS will feature a semiautomatic gearbox, a move that brings it closer in line with its larger siblings in the GS lineup, like the R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure. These models are equipped with BMW's Automated Shift Assistant, which allows for automatic gear shifts in 'D' mode or manual control in 'M' mode.

Given its expected price point of around Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom), the F 450 GS is likely to incorporate a more cost-effective version of the Automated Shift Assistant, catering to a wider audience without compromising on technological advancement. This bike will not only enhance BMW's portfolio but also introduce semi-automated transmission technology to a broader segment of motorcycle enthusiasts.
Furthermore, the F 450 GS is rumored to boast several high-end features, including multiple riding modes enabled by an electronic throttle and the possibility of a quickshifter. This suggests that the bike will offer a blend of performance, convenience, and adaptability, making it suitable for various riding conditions and preferences. The inclusion of 19/17-inch wheels, potentially available in both alloy and wire-spoke variants, indicates a design that's as versatile as it is robust, drawing inspiration from its high-end counterpart, the R 1300 GS.
As the launch date of the F 450 GS draws closer, BMW is gearing up to introduce a motorcycle that stands out not just for its brand lineage but also for its technological innovations and competitive pricing. The anticipated Rs 5 lakh price tag positions it as an attractive option for riders looking to enter the adventure biking segment without breaking the bank.
The F 450 GS is expected to face stiff competition from both twin-cylinder and single-cylinder motorcycles within its price range, including the Honda NX500, Kawasaki Versys-X 300, CFMoto 450 MT, KTM 390 Adventure, and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
