Bajaj Aims To Launch Affordable Chetak Electric Scooter In India Under Rs. 80,000
Bajaj is making significant strides in India's electric two-wheeler market. The company is reportedly developing a more affordable version of its Chetak electric scooter. This new model is expected to be priced lower than the current Chetak variants. Bajaj has already begun testing this model in India, with images of the test vehicle appearing online.
Previously, Ola Electric dominated the market with its S1 series. Despite having only the Chetak model, Bajaj has managed to challenge Ola's position. To maintain its lead, Bajaj is focusing on a budget-friendly Chetak variant. This new version might launch during the upcoming festive season.

The Chetak e-scooter is popular in India due to its premium design and features. However, the new variant will likely forgo some features to keep costs down. It's anticipated to be priced at Rs. 80,000 or less. While its appearance may resemble existing models, differences in range, power, and technical specifications are expected.
The test model is heavily camouflaged, making it difficult to identify specific changes. However, it features 12-inch alloy wheels, a round headlamp, egg-shaped mirrors, and drum brakes. The top speed might be under 50 km/h or 60 km/h, though this remains unconfirmed.

Currently, Bajaj offers three Chetak models: the Chetak 3501 at Rs. 1.38 lakh, the Chetak 3502 at Rs. 1.30 lakh, and the Blue 2903 at Rs. 1.04 lakh (all ex-showroom prices). The Chetak 35 series uses a 3.5 kWh battery with a range of over 150 km per charge, while the Chetak 29 series has a 2.9 kWh battery covering 123 km per charge.
Technical Specifications & Features
Bajaj offers an optional Tech-Pack for advanced features like navigation and music control on current models. However, this budget variant will not include these features. The new model aims to cater to lower and middle-class consumers by offering a more affordable option without compromising essential functionality.
The full details of speed, range, and pricing will be revealed upon launch. The new variant could redefine Bajaj's presence in the electric scooter market by appealing to a broader audience.
