Auto Expo 2025: Yamaha To Showcase FZ-X With Hybrid Powertrain At The Bharat Mobility Global Expo
The Yamaha FZ-X is set to become the first 150cc commuter bike in India to feature hybrid technology. This innovation follows Yamaha's earlier introduction of hybrid systems in their Fascino and Ray ZR scooters. The FZ-X, along with the FZ-S, is expected to debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, showcasing new features and possibly a price increase.
Hybrid Technology & Features
The updated FZ-X will incorporate an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) for a small electric boost, enhancing its maximum output. This system will also enable start/stop functionality and a silent start. The bike's air-cooled, 149cc engine currently produces 12.4hp and 13.3Nm, but these figures might see a slight increase with the new model.
Additionally, the FZ-X will feature a colour TFT display capable of showing call/notification alerts and controlling music playback. This display will be operated using new switchgear and is likely reserved for the top DLX variant, similar to what is seen on the latest R15 models.
Price Expectations
Currently priced between Rs 1.37 lakh and Rs 1.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the updated FZ-X is anticipated to have a higher price tag upon its release at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo next week. The inclusion of hybrid technology and additional features justifies this expected price hike.
FZ-S Updates
While the FZ-X receives significant updates, the FZ-S will mainly see changes in its colour options. A new grey/cyan colourway has been identified, which is also available on models like the MT-15 and MT-03. These aesthetic updates are expected to come with a minor price increase as well.
Yamaha continues to innovate within India's commuter bike segment by introducing hybrid technology to its lineup.
