Ather Launches BaaS Plan - Rizta Price Drops To ₹75,999, 450 Series To ₹84,341, Free Charging Included
Bangalore-based EV startup Ather Energy has launched the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for its Rizta and 450 series of electric scooters. Prices for the Rizta now start at ₹75,999, while the 450 Series begins at ₹84,341 (ex-showroom, Lucknow).
Instead of paying for the battery up front, Rizta and 450 Series owners can pay a monthly or per-kilometre fee for its use. Prices start at ₹1 per kilometre, spread across three to four years.
Under the four-year BaaS package, a rider committing to at least 1,000 km a month pays around ₹1 per kilometre for battery use. The fixed cost model helps customers better plan their running expenses without worrying about battery degradation over time.
Batteries are the single most expensive part of an electric scooter, often making up 30-40% of the cost. By separating battery ownership, Ather can price the scooters closer to petrol two-wheelers, making the switch to electric less intimidating for first-time buyers looking to make the switch to the firm's EVs, which are some of the more premium offerings currently on sale in India..
As part of the new BaaS model, new Ather scooter buyers also get a year of free fast charging at Ather's 3,300-plus public charging stations. This perk is designed to cut charging costs while encouraging riders to experience the brand's nationwide charging network.
This BaaS plan isn't just about pricing. It's bundled with Ather's expanded Assured Buyback programme, which guarantees customers a set value for their scooter when it's time to upgrade. The company says it's about giving buyers more confidence and flexibility.
In addition to the new Ather BaaS scheme, the firm has made its Extended Comprehensive Warranty (ECW) available to all AtherStack Pro customers. The Ather ECW scheme is now available for up to five years or 60,000 kilometres and covers the battery and 11 other key components, including the motor, controller, charger, and dashboard.
