Ather Rizta Electric Scooter Surpasses 1 Lakh Sales In India

Ather Energy has reported impressive sales figures for its Rizta electric scooter, with over 1 lakh units sold in India within a year of its. The Rizta, Ather's first family-oriented electric scooter, has significantly contributed to the company's sales, accounting for around 60% of their total volume since its introduction. This model was initially unveiled at the Ather Community Day in April 2024, with retail sales commencing in June 2024 across the nation.

The Rizta shares some components with Ather's 450 series scooters. It is comparable in length to the Honda Activa 125 but offers a wider frame. While its design might appear conservative and familiar, it effectively meets the needs of Indian families. Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, remarked on this achievement: "Hitting the 1 lakh milestone with the Rizta is a big moment for us. The Rizta, which was built from the ground up with a focus on addressing the needs of Indian families, has played a key role in expanding our reach and connecting with a much wider set of customers."

Rizta's Impact on Market Share

The introduction of the Rizta has expanded Ather's product lineup and helped them capture a larger customer base across India. Following increased deliveries in Q2 FY25, Ather saw significant growth in market share in key states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Additionally, combined with the Ather 450 series, Rizta propelled Ather to become South India's leading brand by Q4 FY25 as per Vahan data.

The pricing for the Ather Rizta starts at ₹1.10 lakh and goes up to ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes equipped with two battery options: a 2.9 kWh battery offering up to 123 km range per charge and a 3.7 kWh battery providing an extended range of 159 km. Both variants are powered by the same PMS electric motor used in the 450S model.

Performance and Charging Capabilities

The motor enables acceleration from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and can reach speeds up to 80 km/h. The smaller battery takes approximately 5 hours and 45 minutes to charge from zero to 80% using standard chargers; meanwhile, the larger one requires only about 4 hours and 30 minutes for a full charge.

Moreover, fast charging is available for the larger battery through Ather Grid, allowing users to gain an additional range of 15 km within just ten minutes. The battery pack is designed with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

DriveSpark Thinks

Ather Energy's Rizta has not only broadened their consumer profile but also accelerated adoption in regions where their presence was previously limited. This success underscores their commitment to meeting family needs while maintaining reliability and safety features.
