Ather Energy Achieves 5 Lakh Unit Production Milestone In India
Ather Energy has reached a major production milestone by rolling out its 500,000th electric scooter from its manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The landmark unit was the Ather Rizta, the company's latest family-oriented model that has rapidly become a significant growth driver since its launch last year.
This achievement marks a key moment in Ather's journey from a niche electric performance brand to one of India's most trusted mainstream EV manufacturers.

Half a Million Milestone
For Ather Energy, this milestone reflects years of steady growth, innovation, and customer trust in a highly competitive EV landscape. The Bengaluru-based company has established itself as one of India's foremost electric two-wheeler manufacturers, with a strong focus on technology, performance, and reliability.
Over time, Ather has evolved from catering primarily to enthusiasts with its performance-focused 450X to offering a well-rounded portfolio that appeals to a broader audience. The roll-out of the 500,000th scooter highlights this evolution and underscores the growing acceptance of electric mobility across urban and semi-urban India.
Rizta Powers the Next Phase of Growth
The Ather Rizta has played a central role in driving the brand's recent momentum. Positioned as a comfortable, practical, and family-friendly electric scooter, it has quickly gained popularity in a segment traditionally dominated by petrol-powered models. The Rizta now accounts for more than one-third of Ather's total production, a clear sign of its strong market response.
Its blend of space, safety, and simplicity has broadened Ather's appeal beyond early adopters and performance enthusiasts, helping the brand connect with daily commuters and families alike.
Expanding Footprint Across India
Ather's recent expansion has been particularly strong across central, northern, and tier-2 and tier-3 cities, reinforcing its commitment to making premium electric mobility more accessible. Alongside new dealerships, the company continues to scale its Ather Grid charging infrastructure to support a growing customer base nationwide.
Building a Robust Manufacturing Ecosystem
Ather currently operates two manufacturing facilities in Hosur - one dedicated to vehicle assembly and another to battery production - with a combined annual capacity of 4.2 lakh scooters. To keep pace with increasing demand, the company is now developing its third facility, Factory 3.0, in Bidkin, AURIC (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra).
Planned to be built in two phases under Industry 4.0 standards, the new plant will feature advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems. Once both phases are operational, Ather's total installed capacity will rise to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers per year.
DriveSpark Thinks
With the Rizta driving sales and a strong network expansion strategy in place, Ather Energy is poised to lead India's next phase of electric mobility growth. The company's focus remains on broadening its product portfolio, expanding its manufacturing capabilities, and strengthening the Ather Grid network to ensure a seamless EV ownership experience.
