Affordable Ather EL Scooter Platform Teased - Multiple Reveals On August 30th?
Bangalore-based EV startup Ather Energy has released the first teaser of its upcoming EL-platform-based affordable scooter. The short clip shared by Ather Energy on its socials gives us our first glimpses at the Ather EL ahead of its reveal on August 30 at the firm's Community Day 2025 event.
The teaser for the Ather EL starts with Ather talking about how its current lineup of the 450 series and Rizta share the same platform and that it is now building a new one. This new platform, dubbed "EL", which the firm claims is highly scalable and cost-effective.

The scalability mentioned in the teaser video means that the Ather EL platform will spawn multiple scooters (something confirmed later in the teaser video), each with its own distinct design and features. The first of these is expected to be revealed on August 30th.
The teaser also gives us a first look at the silhouette of this upcoming scooter, and from what we can make out, it features a headlight mounted on the handlebar cowl, which is flanked by indicators on either side. The DRLs are mounted on the front apron, which makes the EL's split front lighting design a first for Ather.

The new EL platform will be the foundation for multiple future scooters, designed to expand Ather's portfolio. Ather has not teased any details about the powertrain, performance figures, and pricing of the upcoming EL platform scooter. Ather will reveal all information about the EL platform and the teased scooter at its annual Community Day event on the 30th of August.
The teaser for the EL platform highlights Ather's growing focus on product diversification. With the electric scooter market in India rapidly expanding, the EL concept is expected to help Ather reach new audiences who have till now stayed away from the marque's scooters due to their premium price tags.
Ather is also expected to use its Community Day 2025 event to reveal more updates to its ecosystem. These updates are expected to include Ather Stack 7.0, the firm's software suite, and its faster charging options.
The teaser for the EL is the first official confirmation from Ather of the platform after months of speculation about a more versatile and accessible scooter being added to its lineup. While Ather has not confirmed production timelines, more details will likely follow once the concept is fully revealed on August 30.
The scooters, based on the Ather EL platform, is expected to be produced at Ather's new production facility in Aurangabad. We expect Ather to price the new affordable EL-based scooter at around the ₹60,000 mark using the BaaS model.
