2026 Kawasaki Z900RS Revealed - Gets New IMU, Cruise Control & Bi-Directional Quickshifter

Japanese bikemaker Kawasaki has unveiled the updated 2026 Z900RS, bringing a major electronic overhaul to its retro-modern motorcycle. The refreshed 2025 Kawasaki Z900RS gains a comprehensive electronic suite led by a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), cruise control, and an assist-and-slipper clutch.

The 2026 Kawasaki Z900RS continues to be powered by the familiar 948 cc liquid-cooled inline-four cylinder engine that produces 114hp and 98Nm of peak torque. The four-pot motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox and Z900RS also gets a bi-directional quick-shifter for clutchless gear changes.

The 2026 iteration of the Z900RS also sees the introduction of a Ride-by-wire throttle, allowing for new electronic features such as Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) and Power Modes. Kawasaki has also integrated electronic cruise control for the first time in the Z900RS.

The IMU ón the Z900RS enables cornering ABS and Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF). These systems continuously monitor lean angles and rider inputs to provide optimised braking and acceleration balance when navigating curves.

Braking duties are handled by dual 300 mm front discs and a 250 mm rear disc with standard ABS. The range-topping Z900RS SE adds Brembo M4.32 calipers and an Öhlins S46 rear shock for sharper feedback and greater control under load.

New colour schemes and graphics for 2026 include Metallic Diablo Black and Candy Emerald Green.

The new Z900RS's instrument cluster now features updated menus for rider aids, allowing easy adjustment of traction levels, ABS settings and power delivery modes through intuitive button navigation. A new USB-C charging socket is also available as an accessory.
