Two-Wheeler Sales Surge In 2025, GST 2.0 Among Biggest Reasons
The Indian two-wheeler market in 2025 witnessed significant growth with total registration numbers reaching 2 crore units as of December 30, 2025. Sales increased by 7% compared to 2024, which is a positive thing, and the most notable surge occurred during the festive season after the implementation of the new GST 2.0 tax structure.
From January to September, monthly two-wheeler registrations remained below 20 lakh units/month, but the festive season saw a massive growth in numbers. Registrations crossed 30 lakh units in October 2025 and 25 lakh units in November 2025, making them the strongest months of the year for auto brands.

The introduction of GST 2.0 was the biggest reason behind this sales boom. Under the revised taxation policy, GST on vehicles with engine capacities below 350cc was reduced from 28% to 18%, which further reduced the ex-showroom prices. This price revision encouraged many consumers to upgrade or purchase new two-wheelers.

Honda, meanwhile, remains the market leader in the scooter segment, with the Honda Activa retaining its position as India's No.1 scooter. Models like the Shine 125 and Unicorn also contributed to its sales numbers. Alongside Honda, both TVS and Suzuki achieved double-digit figures largely due to their strong scooter portfolios.
