Yamaha Tenere 700: Anticipated Launch In India By 2025 Amid Import Challenges
Yamaha India is contemplating the introduction of the highly anticipated Tenere 700 motorcycle. This project has just begun, and if all goes well, the launch might occur by late 2025.
The Tenere 700 is celebrated for its straightforward design and features tailored for enduro riding. Many adventure riders in India have eagerly awaited this bike's arrival. The top management at Yamaha India recognises its potential but faces challenges in pricing it competitively within the Indian market.

Import Challenges and Pricing
Currently, many adventure bikes from brands like BMW, Ducati, and Triumph are sold in India without import duties due to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Thailand. However, the Tenere 700 will be imported from Japan, where no such FTA exists. This means import duties will apply, complicating its pricing strategy.
Presently, the Tenere 700 is produced only in Japan and France. Despite this, Yamaha aims to price it below Rs 15 lakh. For comparison, Honda's XL750 Transalp, also a CBU unit from Japan, is priced at Rs 12.5 lakh on-road in India.

Market Potential and Strategic Decisions
Yamaha India's management understands the Tenere 700's market potential but must balance competitive pricing with profit margins. They are keen to ensure that launching this model in India is financially viable for the company.
If all plans proceed smoothly, Indian adventure riders can expect to see the Tenere 700 on Indian roads by late 2025. This timeline gives Yamaha ample time to navigate the complexities of importing and pricing this sought-after motorcycle.

The anticipation surrounding the Tenere 700 highlights its reputation as one of the best adventure bikes available today. Its no-nonsense approach to design and functionality makes it a favourite among enduro enthusiasts worldwide.
In summary, while there are hurdles to overcome regarding import duties and pricing strategies, Yamaha India's efforts could soon bring one of the most awaited adventure motorcycles to Indian riders by late 2025.
