Yamaha R15, R15M New Shades Introduced, But...
Yamaha has recently introduced updates to its popular small-capacity sportbikes, the15 and the R15M, for 2025 in Indonesia. While these bikes remain mechanically unchanged, they now come in new colours. The updates include three new shades for the R15 and one for the R15M. These new colours might also be available in India soon.
The Japanese manufacturer has unveiled four new colours: Tech Black, Icon Blue, and Aggressive Grey for the R15, and Icon Performance for the R15M. Despite these cosmetic changes, Yamaha has not made any mechanical alterations or added new features to these motorcycles.
Yamaha R15 and R15M Features
Both the Yamaha R15 and R15M are equipped with a 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This engine delivers a peak output of 18.4hp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. Braking is handled by a single disc at both ends, complemented by dual-channel ABS.
The bikes have a seat height of 815mm and a ground clearance of 170mm. They weigh 141kg (kerb weight) and have an 11-litre fuel tank capacity. These specifications make them competitive in their segment.
New Colour Options
The new colour options enhance the visual appeal of these bikes without altering their performance. The Tech Black, Icon Blue, and Aggressive Grey shades for the R15 add variety to its appearance. The Icon Performance colour for the R15M gives it a distinct look.
Yamaha's decision to keep the mechanical aspects unchanged is likely due to how well-equipped these bikes already are. Standard features include a slipper clutch, traction control, and quickshifter.
Pricing and Competition
The price of the Yamaha R15 starts at Rs 1.83 lakh, while the R15M is priced up to Rs 1.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). These bikes compete with models like the KTM RC 200, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
The introduction of new colours could attract more buyers looking for aesthetic upgrades without compromising on performance or features.
The Yamaha R15 and R15M continue to be strong contenders in their segment with their advanced features and reliable performance. The addition of new colours adds to their appeal without changing what makes them popular among riders.
