TVS Motor's Mysterious New Scooter: Could It Be The New Jupiter?

TVS Motor has announced the launch of a new product. The company's invitation didn't disclose much about this new offering, but it appears to be a scooter. This has led to speculation that it might be a facelift of the Jupiter model.

TVS Motor is known for developing new products discreetly. Although their test mules are sometimes spotted, some models have been launched without any prior hints. A notable example is the TVS Raider 125, which was introduced with little to no prior leaks.

Potential New TVS Scooter

Currently, there are no spy shots available of this upcoming TVS scooter. However, it seems that the product is ready for launch soon. The invitation provided by TVS leaves enthusiasts guessing about what this new vehicle might be.

To speculate on what this new product could be, it's essential to consider what TVS's current lineup lacks. One gap is a sporty 110cc scooter, similar to the Honda Dio. A 110cc version of the Ntorq or an equivalent could fill this void in their portfolio.

Electric Scooter Possibility

Another possibility is a sportier electric scooter. So far, TVS has offered the iQube electric scooter, which caters to families. They also launched the sporty TVS X, but its high price hasn't made it as popular as the Ather 450 range among enthusiasts.

Given this scenario, TVS might aim to expand its electric scooter lineup further to make a more significant impact in India's growing electric mobility market.

Jupiter Facelift Speculations

A facelifted version of the Jupiter ICE family scooter is another potential candidate for this launch. The Jupiter has been TVS's best-selling model across various segments. An updated version could help TVS increase its market share in the scooter segment even further.

The current Jupiter model comes with both 110cc and 125cc engine options. If a facelift is indeed on the cards, these options will likely continue. The updated model might feature elements like a TFT screen similar to that on the Raider 125, SmartXonnect connectivity with navigation, and LED lighting all around.

In June 2024, TVS sold nearly 28K units of the Ntorq 125 while Honda sold around 33K units of Dio (both 110cc and 125cc combined). Even without a 110cc option, Ntorq's sales are close to those of Dio.

The upcoming vehicle from TVS Motor could either be a new sporty 110cc scooter or an enhanced electric model aimed at capturing more market share in India's competitive scooter segment.

This anticipated launch will likely strengthen TVS Motor's position in India's two-wheeler market by addressing gaps in their current offerings and appealing to both traditional and electric scooter enthusiasts.
