TVS Motor Company Reports Robust Sales In May 2024 Across Categories

Despite the influx of new car manufacturers in India, two-wheelers remain a popular choice for many customers due to their suitability for the country's traffic conditions. TVS Motor Company, headquartered in Chennai, is a leading two-wheeler manufacturer in India. This article examines their sales performance in May 2024.

Sales Figures

In May 2024, TVS Motor Company sold a total of 3,69,914 units. This figure includes sales in India and exports to other countries, covering both two-wheelers and three-wheelers manufactured by the company.

Three-Wheeler Sales

Although TVS Motor sells three-wheelers, they account for less than 3% of the company's total domestic sales volume. In May, TVS sold 10,324 three-wheelers, including 1,808 units sold domestically and 8,516 units exported internationally. This indicates that most of the three-wheelers produced by TVS are exported.

Two-Wheeler Sales

TVS Motor's two-wheeler sales totalled 3,59,590 units in May 2024. In comparison, the company sold 3,74,592 two-wheelers in May 2023. Out of the 3,59,590 two-wheelers sold in May 2024, 2,71,140 units were sold in the domestic market. However, in May 2023, TVS had sold over 3 lakh two-wheelers in India.

The number of two-wheelers exported by TVS in May 2024 stood at 88,450 units. In contrast, during May 2023, TVS exported 73,143 two-wheelers from India to other countries.

Motorcycle and Scooter Sales

Motorcycles contribute the most to TVS Motor's sales volume. In May 2024, TVS sold a total of 1,73,627 motorcycles. This is an increase compared to the 1,62,248 motorcycles sold by TVS Motor in May 2023.

Complementing motorcycle sales, TVS Motor also sold 1,45,305 scooters in May. This represents an increase of 24,149 units compared to May 2023.

Electric Scooters and Mopeds

In addition to the above-mentioned figures, TVS Motor also sold 18,674 electric scooters and 40,658 mopeds in May 2024.

Unlike Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor is not heavily reliant on exports. Despite having popular scooter models like the Jupiter in its portfolio, motorcycles continue to be the major contributor to TVS Motor's sales volume.
