TVS Motor Company (TVSM), a global leader in the two and three-wheeler segments, has launched the championship season of its electric two-wheeler racing. This marks TVS as the first Indian manufacturer to enter the world of electric motor racing. The 2024 TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC) follows two support rounds during last year’s TVS OMC, showcasing the company's commitment to sustainable mobility and performance technology.

The TVS Racing e-OMC features races on the electric TVS Apache RTE race motorcycles, developed exclusively for this championship. TVS Motor has been a pioneer in motorsports in India with a rich heritage spanning over four decades. The company continues to innovate in sustainable solutions for a cleaner future.

Advanced Technology in TVS Apache RTE

The TVS Apache RTE race motorcycles boast several advanced technologies. These include the highest power-to-weight ratio in its class, achieved through a liquid-cooled motor and high-efficiency liquid-cooled motor controller. The battery pack features high-power cells with advanced chemistry and a carbon fibre battery case that acts as a stressed member of the chassis.

Additional technologies include a custom-built advanced Battery Management System with race-specific algorithms for advanced configuration controls and high safety levels. The single reduction motor spindle connects to the rear wheel through sprockets and a roller chain. The suspension system is bespoke from Ohlins, and the braking system includes Brembo components with a 320mm front disc.

Key Features of the Racing Motorcycle

The TVS Apache RTE also features carbon fibre front and rear wheels, Pirelli Super Corsa tyres, and a carbon fibre fairing with the lowest coefficient of drag in its class. The unique livery combines TVS Racing Factory colours with sustainability-inspired graphics, enhancing both performance and aesthetics.

Highlights of TVS e-OMC Round 1

The TVS Electric OMC is part of the TVS One Make Championship (OMC) in India, held alongside the prestigious Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC). In this season's TVS e-OMC, eight riders were selected to race for four laps, achieving an impressive top speed of 200 kph. The best lap timing recorded was 1 minute 48.777 seconds.

Sarthak Chavan secured first place in Round 1 of INMRC 2024, followed by Chirant V and Alwin Sundar. This championship demonstrates the potential of electric vehicles in delivering thrilling racing experiences while promoting sustainable mobility solutions.
