TVS Motor Sets New Benchmark In Electric Two-Wheeler Exports For Early FY2025
TVS Motor Co, which produces the BMW CE 02 e-scooter at its Hosur facility, has made a robust start to its EV exports in FY2025. Alongside Ather Energy and Bajaj Auto, Indian electric two-wheeler exports reached 2,814 units from April to June 2024, surpassing the 1,609 units exported in FY2024.
The Indian two-wheeler sector recorded dispatches of 4.98 million units with a 20% year-on-year growth in April-June 2024. This period also saw significant progress on the electric vehicle (EV) front.

In the first quarter of FY2025, electric scooter exports totalled 2,814 units compared to just 74 EVs during the same period in the previous year (April-June 2023), all of which were Bajaj Chetaks.
TVS Leads Electric Two-Wheeler Exports
TVS Motor Co has dominated e-two-wheeler exports this fiscal year with 2,772 units, accounting for 98.50% of total overseas shipments. The remaining exports included 40 units from Ather Energy and two Bajaj Chetaks. TVS's strong export performance is largely due to the BMW CE 02 electric scooter.
SIAM wholesales data indicates that India E2W Inc's Q1 FY2025 export shipments have already surpassed the entire FY2024's e-scooter exports of 1,603 units by an additional 1,211 units. The total export figure of 2,814 EVs represents 1.80% of India's total two-wheeler exports of 155,980 units for April-June 2024.
BMW CE 02 Boosts TVS Exports
The BMW CE 02 electric scooter has significantly boosted TVS Motor Co's EV exports. Manufactured jointly with BMW Motorrad at TVS's Hosur plant, it accounted for most (96%) of TVS's EV exports in Q1 FY2025 with 2,652 units shipped. The remaining exports comprised the TVCS iQube with 120 units.

On April 15, 2024, Autocar Professional reported that TVS had started exporting the BMW CE 02. In FY2024, TVS exported a total of 1,173 EVs – including 94 CE 02s and 249 iQubes – making up for 73% of India's e2W exports.
Other contributors were Ather Energy with a share of 22%, Bajaj Auto with a share of nearly five per cent and Hero MotoCorp with less than one per cent.

Technical Specifications and Market Expansion
The BMW CE 02 weighs around 132kg and generates 15hp power output. It can travel up to 90 kilometres on a single charge and has a top speed of 95kph.
Its structure includes a double-loop steel tubular frame holding twin battery packs and features a USD fork/mono-shock suspension setup. The braking system includes a 296mm front disc clamped by a single-piston calliper with single-channel ABS.
TVS Motor Co has invested heavily in the BMW CE 02 platform developed jointly with BMW Motorrad. This collaboration follows their earlier success with the 310 series platform that produced models like the BMW G310 R and TVS Apache RR310.
Expanding Export Markets
Alongside exporting the BMW CE 02, TVS also shipped 120 iQube e-scooters in Q1 FY2025. Most iQube exports are likely destined for Nepal through Jagdamba Motors. As India's second-largest two-wheeler exporter after Bajaj Auto, TVS is expanding its global footprint across Asia, Africa and Latin America.

In recent months, TVS has entered new markets such as Nepal, Vietnam and France strategically. On November 16, 2023, TVS announced its entry into Europe by signing an import and distribution agreement with Emil Frey Group to target select EU markets collaboratively.
The Indian two-wheeler industry is witnessing substantial growth in both domestic sales and international exports. With companies like TVS leading the charge in electric vehicle production and exportation, India’s presence in the global EV market continues to strengthen.
