Triumph Tiger Sport 800 Unveiled: To Get A 798cc Engine Now

The Tiger Sport 800, powered by a new 798cc, three-cylinder engine, delivers 115hp and 84Nm of torque. Triumph has introduced this model to replace the Tiger 850 Sport. It surpasses the updated Tiger 900 GT in power output. The bike features cruise control and a bidirectional quickshifter as standard equipment.

Triumph has redesigned the middleweight Tiger Sport to enhance its road capabilities. Unlike its predecessor, the Tiger Sport 800 is equipped with 17-inch wheels at both ends.

These wheels are fitted with Michelin Road 5 sport-touring tyres, sized at 120/70-ZR17 for the front and 180/55-ZR17 for the rear. This setup aligns closely with the smaller Tiger Sport 660.

Features and Specifications

The suspension system of the Tiger Sport 800 includes a Showa-supplied 41mm USD fork and monoshock. The fork allows adjustments for compression and preload, while the monoshock can be tuned for rebound and preload using a remote adjuster.

Braking is managed by Triumph-branded radially mounted four-piston calipers paired with 310mm discs at the front and a single-piston caliper with a 255mm disc at the rear.

With an 18.6-litre fuel tank filled to capacity, the bike weighs in at 214kg, offering a reasonable range on a full tank. The electronic rider aids on this model are basic but sufficient, featuring three riding modes: Sport, Road, and Rain. Additional features include traction control, dual-channel ABS, cruise control, and a bidirectional quickshifter.

Design and Technology

The presence of a six-axis IMU enhances these riding aids by allowing more precise interventions. All functions are managed through the same display used in the Daytona 660 and Tiger Sport 660 models. Accessories such as a centre stand and colour-matched panniers can be purchased from Triumph's accessory catalogue.

The Tiger Sport 800 will be available in four colours: yellow, blue, black, and grey. It is set for international release in March 2025, with an anticipated launch in India either next year or in 2026. Competing models include BMW F 900 XR, Ducati Multistrada V2, and Kawasaki Versys 1100.

Market Expectations

The previous model, Tiger 850 Sport, was priced at Rs 11.95 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Therefore, it is expected that the new Tiger Sport 800 will be similarly priced upon its launch. This pricing strategy aims to position it competitively within its segment.

In terms of styling and tyre dimensions, this model closely resembles the smaller Tiger Sport 660. The combination of these features makes it an appealing choice for riders seeking performance-oriented touring motorcycles.

The introduction of this new model signifies Triumph's commitment to enhancing their lineup with more road-focused options that cater to diverse riding preferences.
