Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS Teaser Out: Boasts Sportier Appeal
The Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS is anticipated to feature high-end components and a more robust engine. Since its introduction in 2019, the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 has been a sporty model in the company's Modern Classic range, positioned just below the Thruxton.
In 2021, it became sportier with the addition of a USD fork and Brembo M50 monobloc calipers. Now, Triumph appears to be enhancing the Speed Twin 1200's sporty appeal further with an RS variant, as revealed through a teaser on social media.
The teaser showcases a twin-cylinder motorcycle adorned in an eye-catching orange paint scheme with silver and black accents. Brief glimpses reveal a golden USD fork and black twin shock absorbers with golden piggyback reservoirs, both signature features of Ohlins. With the discontinuation of the Thruxton last year, Triumph lacks a flagship sporty model in its neo-retro lineup. The Speed Twin 1200 RS might be their solution to this gap.
Enhanced Performance and Upgraded Components
The standard Speed Twin 1200 already boasts impressive specifications, including a non-adjustable 43mm Marzocchi USD fork, Brembo M50 brake calipers, Metzeler Racetec RR tyres, and a 1,200cc parallel-twin engine producing 100hp and 112Nm of torque. The RS variant is expected to receive upgrades in cycle parts and possibly inherit the Thruxton's motor, which delivers 105hp.
Despite the Thruxton's removal from Triumph's lineup, there remains a dedicated demand for top-spec sporty retro models. The Speed Twin 1200 RS could cater to this niche market. Given that the bike in the teaser looks production-ready, its official reveal seems imminent.
Expected Launch and Pricing
Bajaj currently retails Triumph's entire lineup in India, so it's likely that the Speed Twin 1200 RS will also be available there soon. Presently, the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 is priced at Rs 11.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The RS variant is expected to command a higher price due to its enhanced equipment.
The new orange/black/silver paint scheme visible in the teaser adds to its appeal. With upgraded suspension and brakes likely included as well, enthusiasts can look forward to an even more exhilarating ride experience with this upcoming model.
