The Triumph Speed 400 has been recently updated and the new Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 has sparked a lot of enthusiasm among bikers. These two bikes, with their competitive pricing of ₹2.4 lakh for the Speed 400 and ₹2.39 lakh for the Guerrilla 450, are vying for the attention of enthusiasts looking for VFM in the 400-450cc segment.
The Triumph Speed 400 is designed with the highway and smooth pavements in mind, boasting a sleek design and features suited for long rides. On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 gears towards riders who prefer a mix of city commutes and mild off-road adventures, thanks to its rugged design and off-road capable features.
Engine and Performance Battle
Diving deeper into the specifications, the Triumph Speed 400 is equipped with a 398 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, delivering about 39 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. It features a 6-speed transmission complemented by a slipper clutch, optimizing performance and rider control.
Conversely, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 boasts a slightly larger 450cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that also produces 39 bhp at 8,000 rpm, but offers a higher torque of 40 Nm at a lower 5,500 rpm. Its 6-speed gearbox comes with a slip and assist clutch, ensuring smooth gear shifts and enhanced riding comfort.
Suspension and Braking Systems
When it comes to handling, the Triumph Speed 400 offers 43 mm upside-down forks with 140 mm of travel at the front and a monoshock suspension with 130 mm of travel at the rear. For stopping power, it employs dual-channel ABS with a 300 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear, and it rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with road tyres.
Meanwhile, the Guerrilla 450 matches the front suspension specifications but steps up with a linkage-type monoshock offering 150 mm travel at the rear. Braking is handled by larger 310 mm discs at the front and 270 mm at the rear, also with dual-channel ABS, while its off-road biased tyres on spoked wheels prepare it for rougher terrains.
The Triumph Speed 400 shines with its array of new paint schemes for 2025, including Racing Yellow, Pearl Metallic White, Racing Red, and Phantom Black. The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, not to be outdone, comes in five colors: Brava Blue, Yellow Ribbon, Playa Black, Gold Dip, and Smoke Silver, giving potential buyers a broad palette to choose from.
Features
Both motorcycles offer a suite of modern features, but with some notable differences. The Speed 400 comes equipped with a USB-C charger, provisions for adding heated grips, and switchable traction control for varying riding conditions.
The Guerrilla 450, however, takes the lead in tech, featuring a tripper dash with a fully digital display, Google Maps, WiFi connectivity, and different riding modes, positioning it as the more tech-savvy option. Nevertheless, both bikes ensure basic conveniences like LED lighting are well accounted for.
