Top10 Best-Selling Scooters In India For May 2024: Activa Leads
In May 2024, India's scooter market saw a 25.74% increase in sales with Honda Activa leading. The top 10 scooters showcased a dynamic market with robust demand.
In May 2024, the Indian scooter market saw a significant rise, with total sales reaching 5,16,110 units. This marks a 25.74% increase from the 4,10,455 units sold in May 2023. This growth indicates a strong demand for scooters in India.
The Honda Activa remained the top-selling scooter, with 216,352 units sold. This represents a 6.39% year-over-year (YoY) growth and a commanding 41.92% market share. The TVS Jupiter secured the second spot with 75,838 units sold, showing a substantial 31.44% YoY growth and capturing 14.69% of the market share.

Suzuki Access demonstrated an impressive 41.06% YoY growth with 64,812 units sold, holding a 12.56% market share. Ola Electric's S1 model continued to gain traction with sales of 37,225 units, up by 29.51% from the previous year, securing a 7.21% market share.
The sporty TVS Ntorq sold 29,253 units in May 2024, marking a modest 6.16% YoY growth and holding a 5.67% market share. Honda Dio contributed to 5.63% of the market share with sales of 29,041 units.

Suzuki Burgman registered the highest YoY growth among the top 10 scooters at 90.77%, with 19,523 units sold and a 3.78% market share. TVS iQube faced a slight dip in sales by 3.81% YoY with 17,230 units sold but maintained a 3.34% market share.
Month-on-Month Comparison
Comparing May to April 2024, the Indian scooter market saw a slight decline of 5.56%, with total sales dropping from April's 5,46,471 units to May's 5,16,110 units. Despite this month-on-month (MoM) decline, several models performed well.

The Honda Activa remained the leader with sales of 216,352 units in May but saw a significant drop of 16.88% compared to April's sales of 260,300 units. TVS Jupiter experienced a slight MoM decline of 1.62%, selling 75,838 units in May compared to April's 77,086 units.
Suzuki Access saw positive MoM growth of 4.60%, selling 64,812 units in May compared to April's 61,960 units. Ola's S1 electric scooter continued its upward trajectory with a MoM growth of 9.60%, increasing sales from April's 33,963 units to May's 37,225 units.

TVS Ntorq experienced a MoM decline of 3.81%, with sales dropping from April's 30,411 units to May's 29,253 units. Honda Dio showed remarkable MoM growth of 25.27%, with sales rising from April's 23,182 units to May's 29,041 units.
Other Notable Performances
Suzuki Burgman also witnessed positive MoM growth of 10.42%, selling 19,523 units in May compared to April's sales of 17,680 units. TVS iQube showed modest MoM growth of 3.09%, reaching sales of 17,230 units in May from April's figure of 16,713 units.

Yamaha RayZR faced a slight MoM decline of 1.86%, with sales dropping from April's figure of 14,055 units to May's figure of 13,794 units. Bajaj Chetak experienced significant MoM growth of 17.27%, increasing its sales from April's figure of 11,121 units to May's figure of 13,042 units.
The Indian scooter market continues to show robust demand despite minor monthly fluctuations in sales figures for some models.
