Royal Enfield's May 2024 Sales Dip: 650 Twins See Rising Demand
Royal Enfield's sales figures for May 2024 have shown a decline. The company sold 65,531 units, marking a 10.26% drop compared to May 2023 and a 15.33% decrease from April 2024. This downturn affected most models, particularly the 350cc bikes.
Despite the overall decline, the Royal Enfield 650 Twins saw a significant increase in demand. Sales of these models rose both year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM). The company is also expanding its portfolio in India with the new 2024 Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, expected to launch in September 2024 at a price range of Rs 2.40-2.60 lakh.

The Classic 350 remained the best-selling model for Royal Enfield, even though it experienced a decline. It sold 23,779 units last month, down by 9.76% YoY from May 2023 and by 19.33% MoM from April 2024. This model accounted for 37.43% of the company's total domestic sales.
The Hunter 350 also posted declining sales, with figures dropping to 15,084 units in May 2024 from 18,869 units in May 2023, reflecting a 20.06% YoY decrease. MoM sales fell by 6.81% compared to April 2024.

Sub-10K Unit Sales Models
The Bullet 350 saw a significant drop in sales, falling by 26.40% YoY and by 29.12% MoM to reach 9,332 units. Its share percentage also decreased from 17.54% in April to 14.69% in May.
The Meteor 350 was in fourth place with an increase of 16.59% YoY to reach 8,189 units last month from the previous year's figure of 7,024 units. However, MoM sales dipped by 19.18%, down from April's figure of 10,132 units.

The Himalayan adventure bike saw its sales drop to 3,314 units last month, an 18.45% YoY decline but a MoM growth of 13.61%, increasing by 397 units over April's figure of 2,917 units.
Performance of the Royal Enfield's Twins
The Interceptor and Continental GT models experienced remarkable growth in sales. These models saw a YoY increase of an astounding 197.42%, reaching sales of 2,885 units in May compared to just 970 units in May last year. MoM sales also rose by 31.80%, up from April's figure of 2,189 units.

The Super Meteor model showed a YoY increase of 13.13%, selling 948 units last month though it experienced a slight MoM dip of 2.57%. The company has outlined plans for several new launches between mid-2024 and early-2025 across various platforms including electric motorcycles currently under development.
Royal Enfield is testing new bikes across the 350cc, 450cc and 650cc platforms which include models like Himalayan Raid/Rally, Scram, Continental GT-R and Himalayan/Continental GT-R variants.

While some models have struggled with declining sales figures, others like the Royal Enfield Twins have shown promising growth trends.
