Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 Spotted: Design, Features, And Launch Insights

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 has been seen testing for the first time. The test bike, heavily camouflaged, was spotted in Chennai by MotorBeamer Ishant Singh near the Royal Enfield manufacturing unit. Despite the camouflage, several features hint at its identity.

Premium Features and Design

Key highlights of the Himalayan 650 include spoked wheels, dual petal disc brakes up front, a sizeable digital instrument cluster, fully adjustable USD forks, a meaty upswept exhaust, a split seat setup, split grab handles, and LED blinkers. These features suggest a premium build for the adventure motorcycle.

Himalayan 650 First Look 2

Royal Enfield aims to offer a high-end look with this 650cc adventure bike. The design language is inspired by Dakar rally bikes and may resemble models like the Yamaha Tenere or Honda Africa Twin. This new design approach is expected to set it apart from other motorcycles in its segment.

Engine and Performance

The Himalayan 650 will be powered by a 649cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin cylinder engine sourced from its siblings. This engine currently produces 47 BHP and 52 Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. However, slight tweaks and remapping might be done to suit the adventure motorcycle's character better.

Himalayan 650 First Look 3

Royal Enfield introduced the Himalayan 450 last year with a starting price of Rs. 2.69 lakhs (ex-showroom). It features a 451.65cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine that produces 40.02 PS at 8000 RPM and 40 Nm torque at 5500 RPM. The Himalayan 650 will be positioned above the 450 with unique colour options and different styling to differentiate between the two models.

Expected Launch and Pricing

The bike is currently in its initial testing stages, with the final production version expected to launch later in 2025. In terms of pricing, it is anticipated to be under Rs. 4 lakhs (ex-showroom), making it an attractive option for adventure motorcycle enthusiasts.
