Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Makes Its Debut in the United States
Royal Enfield, headquartered in Tamil Nadu, has introduced its Himalayan 450 bike model to the United States. This follows its launch in India and European countries last November. The bike will be available in four colour options in the US market: Kaza Brown, Hanle Black, Slate Himalayan Salt, and Slate Poppy Blue.
In India, the Himalayan 450 is offered in five colour options, including an additional Kamet White. This extra colour is expected to be introduced in the US market later.
The pricing for the US market is set at $5,799 for Kaza Brown and $5,999 for Hanle Black. Slate Himalayan Salt and Slate Poppy Blue are priced at $5,899 each. This translates to a price range of Rs.4.86 lakh to Rs.5.02 lakh in the US.
The Himalayan 450 sold in the Indian market features a 452 cc single-cylinder engine. This new liquid-cooled engine has a dual-overhead camshaft and a 4-valve motor. It generates a maximum power of 39.4 bhp and 40 Nm of torque. The bike comes with a 6-speed gearbox that includes a slipper clutch feature.
For enhanced suspension, the bike is equipped with a 43 mm USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, similar to those found in sports bikes. Additionally, it features a 320 mm disc on the front wheel and a 270 mm disc on the rear wheel for superior braking performance. ByBre calipers and dual-channel ABS are also included.
The bike includes several digital features such as an instrument cluster that provides various types of information, including turn-by-turn navigation. Other features include ride-by-wire technology, Bluetooth connectivity, phone call notifications, and adjustable seat height.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been well-received in India and is expected to perform similarly in North America. Reports indicate that bookings have already started in North America with excellent numbers being recorded.
