Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 – Everything We Know So Far

The new Royal Enfield Himalayan is a huge step forward compared to its predecessor, and almost addressed all of its shortcomings without losing none of its strengths. That being said, no matter how good the new Himalayan is, for some people, the model is a bit too extreme for everyday use. Royal Enfield knows this and the automaker is working on a road-biased version - Guerrilla 450.

The upcoming Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 has been spotted testing in India a few times, and with each sighting, the model seems to get very close to the production form. Even the latest spy shot reveals plenty of interesting details including a new set of alloy wheels.

Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Mule

Speaking about new alloy wheels, the Guerrilla 450 features numerous new mechanical bits including conventional forks. Apart from that, the model also seems to run on smaller but wider wheels at the front and the back to aid on-road dynamics.

Other than this, the Guerrilla 450 test mules feature a single-piece seat, single-pod instrument cluster, and LED headlamps. Other than these, the rest of the design elements remain more or less similar to the new Himalayan.

Thanks to these changes, we expect the upcoming Guerrilla 450 to be a much more enjoyable motorcycle on the tarmac. Also, given the Himalayan 450 platform, we expect the model to do well in the rougher terrain as well.

Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Engine

That being said, the powertrain in the Guerrilla 450 is likely to be identical to the new Himalayan, albeit with a few changes to the final drive. This means the Sherpa 450 engine will continue to produce 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm of torque at 5,500rpm.

Furthermore, this 'Sherpa 450' engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with slip-and-assist clutch. We also expect the upcoming Guerilla 450 to come with the same electronics suite as the Royal Enfield Himalayan as well.

DriveSpark Thinks

Royal Enfield is trying their best to expand their product portfolio and increase their customer base. As part of this strategy, a road-biased version of the Himalayan will be an attractive option for anyone looking for a 40hp motorcycle.

Also, thanks to its road-biased set-up and slightly less sophisticated hardware, we expect the upcoming Guerrilla 450 to be positioned below the Himalayan and we expect this new motorcycle from Royal Enfield to be launched around the festive season to make maximum use of the sales push.
