May 2024 Motorcycle Sales: Royal Enfield Still On Top
The 350cc to 450cc motorcycle segment is popular among enthusiasts, primarily due to its affordability compared to the premium-priced 500cc+ bikes.
This segment includes single-cylinder performance bikes, classic retro bikes, and a few multi-cylinder offerings for those with deeper pockets. In May 2024, Royal Enfield continued to dominate this segment, with five of its motorcycles occupying the top five positions.

However, Royal Enfield's Classic 350 experienced a sales decline of 9.76% YoY and 19.33% MoM, selling 23,779 units in May 2024. The market share dropped from 35.16% to 33.56% MoM, with a volume loss of 2,571 units YoY and 5,679 units MoM.
Hunter 350 and Bullet 350 also followed this pattern, with sales falling by 20.06% YoY and 6.81% MoM for Hunter 350 and by 26.40% YoY and 29.12% MoM for Bullet 350.

Positive Sales Growth for Meteor 350 and Himalayan
In contrast to the declining sales trend, Royal Enfield's Meteor 350 and Himalayan showed positive growth patterns. Meteor 350 sold 8,189 units in May 2024, registering a YoY growth of 16.59%, although it experienced a MoM dip of 9.18%. Meanwhile, Himalayan saw an YoY decline of 18.45% but a MoM growth of 13.61%.
Royal Enfield sold a combined total of 59,698 units in May 2024, accounting for an impressive market share of approximately84.26%. Following Royal Enfield was Jawa Yezdi with combined sales of2,440 units (3% YoY growth), Triumph's 400cc lineup with2,117 units sold (4.81% MoM decline), Honda H'ness CB350 with1,968 units (51.76% YoY decline), and Harley-Davidson X440 with1,017 units (11.80% MoM decline).

Other Brands in the Segment
KTM's popular390 platform sold655 units in May2024 but experienced a41.36% YoY decline in sales.Bajaj Dominar400 sold477 units but witnessed an18.18% YoY decline.
Aprilia RS457 sold188 units (18.61% MoM decline), while Husqvarna Svartpilen401 sold142 units (18.33% MoM growth). Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z recently launched and managed to sell32 units.

Overall,the total sales for the350cc to450cc motorcycle segment in May2024 stood at70,847units.This figure represents an8.15%YoY decrease compared to77,136units sold last yearand a15.49%MoM decline when compared to83,828units sold in April2024.Volume loss was6,289units YoYand12,981units MoM.
Despite these declines,Royal Enfield continues to maintain its stronghold on this segment as it remains the primary volume generator within this category.
