Royal Enfield Bullet 650 Name Trademarked: The More Affordable Twin-Cylinder Motorcycle

Royal Enfield is expanding its 650cc range to cater to future markets and exports. The current lineup includes the 650 twins, Super Meteor 650, and Shotgun 650. Upcoming models in this segment are the Bullet 650, Classic 650, and Scrambler 650.

Earlier this year, Royal Enfield trademarked the Classic 650 name. Furthermore, test mules have been seen testing in both domestic and international markets. That being said, the launch of these new 650 models are expected to take place post mid-2025.

The Bullet 650 Twin is expected to be Royal Enfield's most affordable 650cc bike. Similar to the 350cc model, it will be a no-frills product. It will feature a basic instrument console displaying a speedometer, fuel level, trip meter, and other general information.

A top-spec variant might offer premium features. For instance, the Super Meteor 650 has twin-pod instrumentation with a Tripper dash. These premium features could be optional for select variants of the Bullet 650 Twin.

To keep costs down, the Bullet 650 Twin may use a halogen headlamp instead of an LED one. Its design will borrow elements from the smaller 350cc Bullet. Key highlights include a headlight cover, circular headlamp and rear-view mirrors, tear-drop fuel tank, scooped single-piece seat, conventional exhaust pipes, and broad rear fender. Test mules have shown extensive chrome finish on parts like the headlamp, engine casing, and exhaust.

The Bullet 650 Twin will ride on wire-spoke wheels with tube-type tyres. The suspension setup includes standard telescopic forks at the front and dual rear shock absorbers. It is expected to use disc brakes measuring 320 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear with dual-channel ABS as standard.

The bike will be powered by a 648cc parallel-twin SOHC air-oil cooled engine producing 47 PS and 52.3 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed constant mesh gearbox.

The Bullet 650 Twin is expected to be priced under Rs 3 lakh, making it Royal Enfield's most competitively priced 650cc bike. Currently, the most affordable model in this segment is the Interceptor 650, starting at Rs 3.03 lakh.

Royal Enfield already holds a dominant position in India's motorcycle market above the 500cc segment with nearly a 90% share. The existing range of twins commands over a two-thirds share of this market segment while Super Meteor holds more than a fifth of it. With new additions to their lineup like the Bullet 650 Twin, Royal Enfield aims to strengthen its global presence further.
