At the recently held Global Investors Meet (GIM) in Tamil Nadu, an emerging electric vehicle (EV) startup, Raptee Energy, captured the limelight with the unveiling of its much-anticipated electric motorcycle.

The event, which took place on January 7th and 8th, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin. Slated for launch in April 2024, the motorcycle is poised to offer an exhilarating ride, equipped with a high-voltage drivetrain and advanced technology.

Showcasing Innovation at TNGIM 2024

Raptee Energy's introduction of its transparent electric motorcycle model at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet marks a milestone in the company's journey of innovation, while also contributing to the economic development of the region. The startup has already established its initial factory in Chennai, covering 4 acres, with a planned investment of Rs 85 crore.

This modern facility, which includes an advanced research and development center, is projected to produce up to 100,000 units annually. As Raptee's central production hub for the next two years, it will generate 470 jobs in manufacturing and design, along with a specialized battery pack assembly line.

The motorcycle itself is a testament to Raptee’s engineering prowess, boasting a drivetrain capable of reaching speeds up to 135 km/h and delivering a real-world range of 150 km on a full charge.

With compatibility to the widespread CCS2 public charging stations, riders can recharge to 80% in just 45 minutes or gain 40 km of range with a quick 15-minute charge. The motorcycle's rapid 0 to 60 km/h acceleration in 3.5 seconds positions it well ahead of traditional internal combustion engine bikes.

Beyond its impressive speed and torque, the motorcycle’s design is sleek, underscoring Raptee's commitment to providing performance that could redefine the electric motorcycle segment. The company's research and development efforts have successfully culminated in the first production-ready model, with the full-fledged launch eagerly awaited in April 2024.

The TNGIM is a strategic business summit orchestrated by the Tamil Nadu government to attract both domestic and international investment. First held in 2015 and again in 2019, the summit has become a significant platform for facilitating economic growth across various sectors.
