Ola Electric Bike Design Patented: Likely To Be Offered In 3 Variants

Ola Electric is making headlines again with its latest venture into the electric motorcycle market. The company, already known for its electric scooters, has now revealed plans to introduce an electric bike.

A design patent has been accessed, giving us a glimpse into what Ola Electric has in store for the future. The motorcycle appears to cater to the commuter segment, featuring basic suspension and a front disc brake. This move by Ola is set to broaden its portfolio in the EV space.

The design images of the Ola electric bike reveal a vehicle that prioritizes efficiency and practicality. It is equipped with a conventional telescopic fork upfront and twin shock absorbers at the rear, alongside a box-section swingarm.

The 17-inch alloy wheels are fitted with narrow tyres, which are typical of commuter motorcycles. This design choice is aimed at reducing drag, thereby enhancing efficiency— a critical factor for electric vehicles.

Ola Electric is expected to introduce a new electric motor and battery setup for this motorcycle. Interestingly, the battery and motor are housed together, mimicking the placement of an internal combustion engine.

This innovative setup poses questions about weight distribution, which could be a key factor in the motorcycle's handling and performance. Although specifics about the motorcycle's performance and efficiency are yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated that the bike will reach speeds of at least 100km/h.

This expectation is based on the capabilities of the Ola S1 Pro electric scooter, which can achieve similar speeds. The new motorcycle is also expected to feature a decent battery range and possibly support fast charging.

The electric motorcycle sports a futuristic design with flat panels and sharp crease lines, setting it apart from the typical commuter bike. The ergonomics suggest a comfortable ride, with a single-piece seat and upright riding position. These features aim to appeal to daily commuters looking for an efficient, electric alternative.

DriveSpark Thinks

As of now, there is no official launch date for Ola Electric's new motorcycle in India. When it does hit the market, it will face competition from existing electric motorcycles like the Tork Kratos R and Revolt RV400. With its entry into the electric motorcycle segment, Ola Electric is not just expanding its product range but also reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.
