New-Gen Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter To Be Launched This Month: Teaser Out!
The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, initially slow to gain traction after its 2020 launch, has now become the third best-selling electric scooter in India. This success is attributed to new models, price reductions, ongoing enhancements, and an expanding network. Now, Bajaj is launching a new-gen Chetak electric scooter on 20th December.
For the 2025 version, Bajaj plans to introduce a completely new platform for the Chetak. This aligns with their strategy of continuous improvements aimed at enhancing competitiveness against rivals like Ola S1, Ather Rizta, and TVS iQube. These competitors offer practical features such as larger storage spaces. Bajaj aims to match or exceed these offerings with the new Chetak model.

2025 Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Features
The upcoming 2025 Chetak will feature a brand-new chassis designed to be lighter. This change is expected to enhance both performance and range. By relocating the battery pack under the floorboard, Bajaj aims to free up space under the seat while improving control and handling due to a lower centre of gravity. This adjustment will benefit cornering, sudden braking, acceleration, and low-speed manoeuvring.
In addition to structural changes, an upgraded battery pack may be introduced. This advanced unit could offer better energy efficiency and safety. With a higher capacity battery pack on the new platform, users might experience improved performance and range. The teaser for this model claims it will be "the Best Chetak yet" and "Fully Lifeproof," indicating significant enhancements.
Market Position and Pricing Strategy
Bajaj aims to increase its market share in the electric two-wheeler segment with this new model. In October 2024, Chetak held a market share of 20.29%, closely trailing TVS iQube's 21.50%. To make the new Chetak more accessible, it might be launched at a lower price point than its predecessors.
The current base variant of Bajaj Chetak starts at Rs 95,998 with a 2.88 kWh battery pack. Other variants include Chetak 3202 at Rs 1,15,018 and the top variant 3201 at Rs 1,27,244. There's also a Special Edition priced at Rs 1,28,744. The existing models offer ranges between 123 km and 137 km with top speeds ranging from 63 km/h to 73 km/h. (All prices in ex-showroom).
Design Updates & Variants
While retaining its classic design format largely unchanged for the new model year, minor cosmetic tweaks are possible for the 2025 Chetak electric scooter. New colour options might also be introduced to refresh its appearance further.
Bajaj's strategic moves with pricing and styling aim to make their electric scooters more appealing to consumers while maintaining competitive advantages over other brands in India's growing electric vehicle market.
