June 2024 Sees Significant Surge In Motorcycle Sales

Motorcycle sales in June 2024 saw a significant year-on-year increase of 22.46%, reaching 8,22,041 units compared to 6,71,257 units in June 2023. This represents a volume growth of 1,50,784 units. However, month-on-month sales experienced a slight decline of 2.40% from the 8,42,281 units sold in May 2024.

Top Performers in June 2024

Hero Splendor maintained its leading position among the top-selling motorcycles with a commanding share of 37.17%. Sales for this model reached 3,05,586 units last month, marking a 28.21% increase from the 2,38,340 units sold in June 2023.

Hero Shine followed in second place with sales of 1,39,587 units, showing a year-on-year improvement of 40.64% over the previous year's figure of 99,254 units.

Bajaj Pulsar secured the third spot with sales of 1,11,101 units in June 2024. This was a modest increase of 3.63% compared to the same month last year when it sold 1,07,208 units. Hero HF Deluxe also saw a slight year-on-year rise of 0.75%, selling 89,941 units compared to last year's figure of 89,275 units.

Year-on-Year Comparisons

TVS Apache experienced notable growth with sales increasing by 32.12% to reach 37,162 units in June 2024 from the previous year's total of 28,127 units. Conversely, Bajaj Platina faced a decline in demand by 9.44%, dropping to 33,101 units from last year's figure of 36,550 units.

TVS Raider also saw reduced demand by approximately 13%, selling only 29,850 units last month compared to the previous year's total of 34,309 units. Honda CB Unicorn continued its strong performance with sales at no.8 on the list at around the same level as last year with minor fluctuations.

Month-on-Month Comparisons

On a month-to-month basis for June versus May this year: Hero Splendor's sales grew marginally by just about half a per cent over May's figures; however Honda Shine and Bajaj Pulsar saw declines by approximately six and thirteen per cent respectively.

HF Deluxe showed an improvement by over three per cent compared to May's numbers while TVS Apache experienced a nearly two per cent drop from May's figures; TVS Raider faced a significant decrease nearing twenty per cent month-over-month.

Other Notable Mentions

Bajaj Platina showed positive growth every month rising almost ten per cent from May’s numbers; lower-down Honda CB Unicorn and RE Classic posted monthly increases of around eight and four per cent respectively; Hero Glamour recorded the highest monthly growth nearing twenty-seven per cent among all motorcycles listed here.

The Royal Enfield Classic posted an eight per cent decline in demand with sales dropping to around twenty-four thousand eight hundred three units from last year's twenty-seven thousand three; whereas Hero Glamour trailed but showed maximum yearly growth exceeding one hundred fifteen per cent over eleven thousand one hundred ninety-one unit sales last year.
