June 2024 Motorcycle Sales: Strong Year-on-Year Growth Despite Monthly Dip
Strong demand in the mid-range motorcycle segment persisted into June 2024. Sales rose by 14.80% year-on-year (YoY) to 1,56,053 units, marking a volume increase of 20,119 units over the 1,35,934 units sold in June 2023. However, month-on-month (MoM) sales saw a decline of 9.26% from the 1,71,981 units sold in May 2024.
Top Motorcycles in the 150cc to 200cc Segment
Bajaj Pulsar led the YoY sales for June 2024 with 38,106 units sold. This represented a significant improvement of 15.74% over the 32,924 units sold in June 2023 and accounted for a market share of 24.42%.

TVS Apache also saw a dramatic increase in sales by 32.12% YoY to reach 37,162 units from the previous year's figure of 28,127 units, capturing a market share of 23.81%.
Honda Unicorn experienced a slight YoY sales increase of 0.22%, reaching 26,751 units. Conversely, Yamaha FZ saw a decline in demand by 26.20%, selling only 12,041 units compared to the previous year's figure of 16,316 units. The Yamaha MT15 showed an improvement with sales rising by 27.28% to reach 11,617 units.

Month-on-Month Sales Analysis
On a MoM basis, most motorcycles in the 150cc to 200cc segment experienced declines. Bajaj Pulsar's sales dropped by 19.44% from May's figure of 47,301 units while TVS Apache saw a minor decline of just 1.96%. Honda Unicorn bucked this trend with an increase of 8.13% from May's total of 24,740 units.
Yamaha FZ's MoM sales fell by 16.14%, dropping from May's figure of 14,359 units. Similarly, Yamaha MT15 and R15 both saw declines of 20.50% and 15.90%, respectively. Honda SP160 also faced a significant drop in sales by 28.39%, down from May's total of 9,939 units.
Other Notable Performances

The Hero Xpulse saw its YoY sales grow by a modest but notable rate of 10.68%, reaching a total of 3,959 units sold last month. Meanwhile, Hero Xtreme reported a slight YoY growth rate of just over one percent with sales hitting the mark at No.9 with exactly 3,138 unit sales.
KTM’s performance was noteworthy as well; their KTM200 model recorded an impressive YoY growth rate of about 7.68%, selling 2,932 units last month alone while Honda Hornet managed to sell 2,080 units during this period.
Bajaj Avenger and Suzuki Gixxer both faced significant declines in their respective YoY figures; Bajaj Avenger dropped by around 26% while Suzuki Gixxer plummeted sharply by nearly 54%.Additionally, lower down on this list was the Honda CB200X which managed only 466 unit sales last month along with the Kawasaki W175 which barely moved off showroom floors managing just 45 unit sales.

The KTM200 model showed positive MoM growth at about 10%, selling exactly 2,932 units last month while Honda Hornet’s MoM numbers dipped slightly below expectations falling nearly 17%. Bajaj Avenger’s MoM figures also fell short dropping almost seven percent while Suzuki Gixxer suffered another sharp decline losing around thirty-two percent MoM going from May’s tally down significantly ending up at only seven hundred ninety-eight unit sales last month alone.
